Chief among the reasons given by the Federal Communications Commission for outlawing the practice of using signal-jamming devices for cellphones is public safety. With 70% of 911 calls now made on wireless devices, the FCC has argued that deliberately blocking cell signals could put people at risk. That being said, the agency is now willing to hear from people who think it might occasionally be in the public interest to jam wireless signals.

Especially in trains, buses, planes and other public areas - I go there for a specific purpose, not to hear about your divorce or toe-nail fungus!
ReplyDeleteI hope they don't ask the same people that were asked if it was okay for Nazi roadblocks to be set up (occasionally, you know) to check on innocent Americans, or if it was a good idea to put drones in the skies over the USA to (occasionally, of course) to monitor citizens, or to use cameras and photographic equipment to (again, occasionally) to "control" lawbreakers. I got a bad feelin', though....
