Congress Demands USPS Reveal Results Of Study

Congress is demanding that the Postal Service reveal the results of a study that showed what would happen if it cut service. GovExec reported, Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-Va.) filed a motion with the Postal Regulatory Commission to make the study public. He said the report projected how much of an impact closing mail facilities, cutting delivery from six to five days a week and other proposals would have on the agency's bottom line. The Postal Service is lobbying for those changes as it stands to lose $14 billion this year. The agency has told the Commission that it wants to keep the findings secret because they were of a commercial nature.
