Today, the Daily Times made my fender bender headline news. I realize that I have become a real threat to the local media but I hadn't realized I had reached A list celebrity status! Man I feel like Steve Martin in the jerk, finally getting my name in the phone book. I am somebody! I am somebody! Seriously folks, a fender bender?
I called Editor Joe Carmean, (without his knowing who I was) and I asked, why would you publish this article? He replied, "because the guy is a criminal." I said, do you know who you're talking to? This is Joe Albero. Now, do tell me how I'm a CRIMINAL! He replied, "you were cited for criminal neglect, failure to maintain control of your motor vehicle." .
I then told Joe that he was making it easy for us to completely screw up the future of the Daily Times (as if they need any help from an outside source). He said, "You're nothing but a bully Albero. All you do is go around bullying people, how does it feel to be at the other end".
In his final statement before he hung up the phone on me, Gannett Daily Times Editor Joe Carmean said, (and I quote) "FUCK YOU JOE ALBERO." Little does Joe Carmean know, I, (at that point) had opened my phone to speaker phone and I was standing with a LOCAL attorney as he yelled that statement to me. The lawyer's eyes bugged out, his jaw dropped and he couldn't believe Joe Carmean would make such a statement. Boy, we must have REALLY pissed off the Daily Times lately!
Many of the comments on the Daily Times article are challenging them stating this isn't news. Well, considering Greg Bassett is constantly telling everyone they are held to a higher standard, would you like to chime in now Greg Bassett? Really, a higher standard? A fender bender accident warrants a top headline? Using a mug shot as an image of the person you're going after and then LYING by stating this was a criminal act.
I think this is a desperate act from a crew on a sinking ship. I can confidently say that The Daily Times will do anything to sell their paper, even using me as bait to boost sales! Thank you Joe, if you'd like I'll let you know whenever I have any interesting events in my life and you can make them your top stories for the day....oops I think I farted. How' s that for a top story?
New Posts to fall below.
Today's article of The Daily Times newspaper rack - 'A picture is worth a thousand words'
ReplyDeleteI really hope you publish it again as The Daily Times took a cheap shot in my humble opinion.
Everywhere I go - Gordy Tiger Mart, WaWa, Royal Farms, the racks are the same - full with unsold Daily Times newspapers. I do not believe it will be very long - and they will disappear from the landscape.
It was a cheap shot and I have had just about enough. After 23 years I will cancel the paper tomorrow. I hope all are well.
ReplyDeleteI wish you would sue them and Gannett. Send the child editor (Mr. F.U, from now on) a copy of those ethics you posted the other day.
ReplyDeleteMost traffic accidents are a civil matter, not criminal.
ReplyDeleteGetting a ticket/citation even from a "fender bender" would be a civil event, at most.
Well I see it like this. I tolerate the lack of good reporting, the old "news", the inaccurate figures relating to important issues such as the Bennet Middle School project, and the fact that print journalism on this level is a dying entity. In spite of these negative qualities I have kept my subscription because they keep local people working and hey, I do use the coupons, but this is too petty. They are literally using a newspaper that is struggling to justify it's existance as a tool to carry out spite. The reason behind this article is painfully transparent. I wonder if the powers that be at Gannett realize that the editors of one of their investments are using their capital to carry out personal vendetta's against a local blogger.
ReplyDeleteThis also makes absolutely clear the fact that the Daily Times is threatened by this local blogger to the point that they would they would allow themselves to be driven to a point where they risk the little credibility they have left to get even.
As you can probably tell - there is a war being waged between SBYnews - (fair & balanced) verses The Daily Times - (biased and censored).
ReplyDeleteAs for my own preference - I side with SBYnews - fair and balanced -because it opines on the side of the majority of easternshore taxpayers verses The Daily Times - an elite few.
I saw that headline...where was the Daily Times the two times that someone ran into me?? Oh right - it was just a simple accountant and a old woman that shouldn't have been driving anymore. Not important enough to be news! Same with your little crunch Joe, the real crime was that this stupid article was published. Shame, shame on the DT, I dislike them more and more everyday.
ReplyDeleteDaddio thats not exactly true. Traffic violations are a misdemeanor in the state of Maryland. They are punishable by a fine but some carry jail time. Not Joe's but some do. The daily rag probably knew this and they knew they would be safe from civil liablity because of that. It doesn't excuse their petty retaliation. They have absolutely no credibility now.
ReplyDeleteThe Daily Slime need I say more.
ReplyDeleteI have to say that the Daily Times must be desperate for material to put in their paper. I laughed when I saw it today. I would feel flattered Joe! Front page news! I think they know their days are numbered and they are just trying to get a few punches in. Keep up the good work Joe!
ReplyDeleteA fender bender and you get front page news, what about all the crime in the area HUH DT.
ReplyDeleteJoe Can I have your autograph?
ReplyDeletePlease
Love Your Site Joe
ReplyDeleteKeep doing what you are doing!
Their time is numbered!
Shut up Beezer. Fair & Balanced? Another term stolen from somewhere, oh, let's say FOX NEWS! Kind of like "Paying it Forward", right? Joe's going to be paying it forward out of pocket. Just because he was put in the paper doesn't constitute him running to his little podunk attorney. But, he might as well visit, since John Robinson has something HUGE planned for his ass! HAHA I bet this comment will never see the light of day, because you are all so "fair & balanced."
ReplyDeleteJoe C. - Do kiss your kids with that nasty mouth?
ReplyDeleteWell Joe the cool side is no one will know is it you cause you will have a new vehicle. Keep them guessing.
ReplyDeleteThe F.U. explains why Mike Dunn and Joe Carmean are such good buddies.
ReplyDeleteWhat professionals, LOL...
Professional losers.
Did you thank them for the free publicity? Although not many people would see it, but still....lmao
ReplyDeleteHey Joe, don't worry. Carmean doesn't have the best reputation in town. Cheated on his wife. Rather deal with a fender bender mess than be an adulterer.
ReplyDeleteI have noticed that the landscape is finally starting to change in and around Salisbury. Finally - after decades of being brainwashed by the old establishment news - a new kid arrives on the block - and vuala - the majority of residents & businesses finally prevail.
ReplyDeleteI would consider it a compliment Joe - and I also predict a record that SBYnews hits will skyrocket as a result of the DT spotlight on your recent incident.
I believe you have really struck a cord as I know that the DT numbers suck. No doubt - SBYnews had a major influence and is actually a leap in the age of electronic media. SBYnews articles are more accurate, faster, and the photographs are the best in the business. Not to mention the research department - it is impeccable. Just please keep doing what you are doing - as it is a tremendous asset to our entire community.

ReplyDeleteAnd what is that greg basset hound? Class action law suit? lmao you guys are pathetic. get a job and a life losers.
Too funny. Every time those who would like to see you fail take another cheap shot you turn it into something that makes it even easier for you to get your story out. THe difference is that your stories have focused on things exposing the goings on of questionable city actions like the audits and the waste water treatment plant. So, the more readers the merrier. Thank you DT and Mr. Carmean, although I hope that Gannett cracks down on your unprofessional behavior while there is still a shred of the paper left. Verification "Shamo."
ReplyDeleteOf course, you saw that your buddy, the "other blogger," was asking if anyone had a picture of the accident. My DT was not delivered today (a rare occasion), so I missed the article.
ReplyDeleteanonymous 10:16, first of all, he's not my buddy. Secondly, it's on their on line website. It will probably be in the print edition tomorrow. Maybe by then they'll deliver your paper?
ReplyDeleteso what is the big deal? I'd never heard of this blog or Joe Albero. I read about the accident in the Daily Times and they said Joe albero is a controversial blogger. So I googled Joe Albero blogger and recognized salisbury news that came up. What is so controversial. I like controversy. Guess I'll read back.
ReplyDeleteRicky Abbott
Oh, let me add, I haven't been to his Site in over 2 years now.
ReplyDeletehey....who is in charge over basset? maybe we should start a letter campaign.
ReplyDeleteFunny, though, Daily Times just pisses me off with that toilet paper rag of what they call, "WICOMICO WEEKLY." I'm tired of them trowing it in my yard! Waste of money. Daily Times used to be ok, but they now just SUCK! Not even worth reading or buying. It is only good for dropping collection paper in the bottom of a bird cage.
ReplyDeleteAlright. I can see you're controversial. Looks m ore like you piss people off by telling the other side of the story even if it makes them look bad. So what? That's what we need today. Good for you! People with something to hide will be hitting you with everything but the kitchen sink. How long have you been doing this anyway? Sorry I didn't here about this place a few weeks ago. I had some things you should have known. I sent letters to the editor to the Daily Times but I never saw them printed. Oh well. Think I'll come here from now on.
ReplyDeleteOh come on, he was in an accident and cited for it, but to pick on the photos of the DT is just wrong. I know that Todd guy and he is one of the best in the business and it shows. Gunby also is a great photographer.
ReplyDeleteDag, if it wasn't for SBY nobody (under 80) would even remember daily times anymore. Please ignore them and let them go away. Remember the old saying 'there is no bad publicity'.
ReplyDeleteIt's hell at the top , Joe .
ReplyDeleteJust laugh it off , these are idiots trying to make a name for themselves.
The news paper business is in deep crap all over the nation.
Some Bloggers will be the center for news. The truth will set you free.
I don't get the paper any more , it was too course , I use charmin.
I might add that , people in this country are hungry for good news.
ReplyDeleteWE want to be informed , we don't care about this type of news , at least I don't. The headlines should be important issues about the state of our country , state and county. Most of us know that the MSM is responsible for the condition of this nation.
I don't want people to lose their jobs , but , the times is finished as an information source.
Hell , even the obituaries are screwed up most of the time.
That was a bit peculiar and juvenile!
ReplyDeleteThe first and only traffic citation I've read in the times since FOREVER!
ReplyDeletePrejudiced much?
C'mon, Joe. You know you did this just for the publicity! LOL.
"I think this is a desperate act from a crew on a sinking ship."
ReplyDeleteMore like rats on a stinking ship, Joe. Just another pin-headed jab by an organization that's lost its way.
Joe, this is not on the topic of your accident but your blog. I don't know if Board members read your blog or even if they do would share it with other members. The letter from Paladin needs to get to them but your blog is copyrighted so none of us can send them a copy of the letter. Would you? Sending them the link will not be enough.
ReplyDeleteThey apparently were able to publish a lot of your legal history not associated with this event.
ReplyDeleteBut it appears that the Times failed to capture your school report card and other irrelavent details about your life.
We know htat the Daily ITmes doesn't like council members Tim Spies, Debbie Campbell & Terry COhen. They recently printed a story about Spies getting a citation for his fence when the citation hadn't eben been written yet when the story was printed. Can you say smear? It certainly wasn't appropriate to print. Then there was the story about how some unnamed source MIGHT file an ethics against Campbell, who MIGHT have a conflict in voting down a ridiculously expensive and ill conceived city project because she works in affordable housing. Of course it was ridiculous and never did happen, but since it was an UNNAMED SOURCE and was RUMORED that it MIGHT happen, it was okay/ Not! Now this. A story about an ACCIDENT...a fender bender. The Daily Times seems to have an agenda. They smear the PEOPLE that they dont't agree with who expose important stories that hte paper doesn't want anyone to know about. Look at some of the first stories broken on this site...mismanagement at the city zoo and things going wrong at a very expensive "on time and under budget" (according to Mayor Tilghman, Dunn and Comegys who were posturing for an upcoming election)waste water treatment plant. Both of those stories turned out to be true and made the DT and those who try to hide things in city hall very mad. Smearing people who you disagree with is not news and it certainly doesn't meet the requirements for journalistic integrity. I hope that Gannett is reading this and does something. Wherre is their responsibility in all of this?
ReplyDeleteif you live by the sword, then you die by the sword. turn the page.
ReplyDeleteYeah Greg Bassett you are going down in time along with all the other pigs. Mark my word. The Daily Times will be no more. You will find out what slander is.
ReplyDeleteJoe, You now have 2 headlines with Worthless Daily Rag:
ReplyDeleteYou are in #3 and #4 in the top news of the day:
#3 Delmar blogger cited in accident
#4 Salisbury blogger cited for vehicle crash...
OMG I was LMAO when I saw they now have 2 headlines on you...
Joe, is you need someone to bail you out of jail for this horrific crime just let me know. Lol to funny.
ReplyDeleteDang they are really just trying to get back at you. How childish is the Daily wipe.Thats all they got what a pathetic Newspaper they are.
ReplyDeleteI'am going to file a discrimination suit against the Times. I had a minor fender bender a few years ago when a lady backed into me at Food Lion. Why wasn't my picture in the paper. Does not seem fair to me.
ReplyDeleteOk I had to do it. I had to go read the story on the slime site. Did anyone notice that the ones that were happy that there was an accident are the bottom feeders of society? They act like they have clean records. To abuse your kids or knowingly do something wrong is no accident. Accidents happen even to good people that is why they are called accidents.
ReplyDeleteword verification *speed* lol
anonymous 1:49, do you mean like the Brewington's situation? ARRESTED for Drugs, alcohol, (dui) no valid driver's license.
ReplyDeleteWhere's Taylor's handicap tags? Why does he park in handicap spots and not use his rear view mirror thing and then bitch when he gets ticketed? Oh yes Jonathan, I know all about it.
Did ANY of them ever mention this was my first accident in my entire life.
Funny how the Daily Times did everything they can to see if they couldn't find ANY violations on my record and FAILED. There are none, with the exception of this accident.
I heard Mike and Julie split up.
ReplyDeleteSmall town, small minds and nothing better to do!
ReplyDeleteMike and Julie didn't split up but they may be on the way. She's been polishing my knob for a while now and I think Mike may be suspecious.
ReplyDeleteI wish someone would just build an O.K. Corral and be done with all this nonsense.
ReplyDeleteHow immature and childish to use a NEWSPAPER to publicly attack someone over an vehicle accident. And a minor one at that.
The big bad wolf is huffing and puffing but no house is falling except the wolf's. It takes more than hot air fellows.
Does their parent companies condone this, or are even aware it is going on?
I can't believe one small town vendetta is what they want to be associated with.
Great "Mug Shot", Joe. The fact that they published that at all shows a total vendetta against you. Small people have small minds. Be sure to lock the door when you use a public rest room to protect your private parts from showing up in the DT.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the fight, Joe. I've got your back!

Hey Daily times your days are numbered dont you see the light..we are on to you and your tricks you have the ignorant fooled but not us...Keep sleeping with the enemy and you will be brought down..Your house is already crumbling.. your incompentece lack of journalistic integrity is GONE POOF like the foul smell of a silent fart...
ReplyDeleteThanks Breezer you hit the head on the nail...Greg go back to sleep
ReplyDeleteSo now everything is fair game, right? Any minor case that any reporter gets is NEWS.
ReplyDeleteI looked up Sharahn Boykin.
Civil case number : 020300002332011 She was sued for $180 by Tidal Wave Fitness. I guess she is a deadbeat.
Citation 0EU36247. She didn't display her registration card. Two speeding tickets.
Or how about Debbie Gates? Citation NO. GS28106 driving without current tags. That's illegal.
