The up side of being elected is it will bring in people who truly want to serve education. The down side is we get something like the Salisbury City Council.
11:28, I'm with you on some of your comment. I'm very much AGAINST an elected board. I belive, contrary to your first part, that with an appointed board we get those committed to education; with an elected board, they will look out for themselves and the next election, in all probability know little about education, and would say "No" to just about everything. I was a teacher (now retired) who worked under both forms. I much prefer the appointed board, like the one now in place. Say what you want about Ron Willey; he and Dr. Carolyn Elmore, both retired educators, know what is best for our KIDS.
12:39 PM You are right on the money. I think the public wants Mr. Willey and Dr. Elmore to lead the Board to a unanimous vote that Dr. Fredericksen's contract should not be renewed. He has shown us what he can do, we do not need to see more of it.
Yes, elected. The problem with appointed is that they WON'T fire you if you stink at the job so long as you kiss up to those who gave you the job. Do a crappy job & we can vote you out.
Yes And SCHOOL VOUCHERS NOW NOW NOW. Toss out all the bloated over educted PHD's who could'nt teach a dog to roll over... but they sure now how to bend us over

You are wrong!! Ron Willey is not wanted by anyone and he is definitely a lapdog for John Fredericksen.

ReplyDeleteBut who am I kidding, It won't happen, and no one will have accountability so what's the use anyway?

ReplyDeleteSounds good, but look at our city and county governments, elected, still politics as usual though. Double edge razor.
ReplyDeleteno. i dont need any more committees, groups, boards, panels, or commissions. fire everyone and start with principals, teachers, and kids.

ReplyDeleteObamba was elected. Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups
ReplyDeleteLets run it like a business. Hire people based on their resume and fire them if they stink at the job.
ReplyDeleteWithout a doubt yes.I would much rather have the peoples choice than the choice of Annapolis.

4 elected, 3 appointed.
ReplyDeleteYes, all elected. They must be directly accountable to the local taxpayers, not the current governor.
ReplyDeleteBut of course! Right now they just bow to OMalley. I want them to work for the kids' parents.
