Today's Survey Question 2-20-12

Would you rather see the same sex marriage issue decided in the legislature, or through a referendum?

  1. It has to be legislature. That is the only way to uphold the constitutionality of it. Hell if we decided laws on referendum, there could be all sorts of unconstitutional laws put in place. Like say, discrimination based on race, religion, sexual orientation, gun ownership, etc.. Law by referendum is a slippery slope.

  2. Leviticus 18:22, identifies homosexual abomination, as a detestable sin. Romans 1:26-27, declares homosexual desires and actions to be shameful, unnatural, lustful and indecent. First Corinthians 6:9, states that homosexuals are unrighteous and will not inherit the kingdom of God. Genesis 2:24, describes it as a man leaving his parents and being united to his wife. Corinthians 7:2-16 and Ephesians 5:23-33, the bible clearly identifies marriage as being between a man and a woman. Biblically speaking, marriage is a lifetime union of a man and a woman, primarily for the purpose of building a family and providing a stable enviroment for that family. Romans 1:18-32, the truth is known because God made it plain. The truth is rejected and replaced with a lie. The lie is then promoted and the truth suppressed and attacked. The vehemence and anger expressed by many in the gay rights movement to any who oppose them is, in fact, an indication that they know their posistion is indefensible. Trying to overcome a weak posistion by raising your voice is the oldest trick in the debating book. There is perhaps no more accurate description of the modern day gay rights movement than Romans 1:31, they are senseless, faithless, heartless and ruthless.

(of course if you dont believe in God, none of this matters)

  3. I don't want the legislature to dictate morality. Let the voters make the call.

  4. I'm with 11:52 here, the decision was made 2,000 years ago, and it didn't take a legislature or a referendum. arteries. guiaius

When will we be able to get to the jobs issue?

  5. Very simple. 14th Amendment of the Constitution. Equal protection under the law. No need for legislators nor voters to endorse racism, bigotry, or anything of the like. Enforce the 14th Amendment.

  6. Legislature. It's funny to read all of the bible quotes that some of my fellow readers post here. This is not a religious issue. It is -civil-. I don't know what extremests teach in church but in a -civics- class they teach you that we duly elect people to represent us in government and they hash out and vote on what is legaly right. The marriage equality proponents have not been making the "church tour" to push their values because it isn't a matter of religion. It is a matter of civil rights and protections under the law. There are over a thousand rights that married people have that are not afforded to those denied of that right. GOOGLE it. It's there. This is not an issue of taking away the rights of the religious folks, it's a matter of what is fair for everyone.

  7. Let the will of the people decide on this one.

  8. If it goes to a referendum then the only people voting on it should be the only people it would affect. How many straight marriages do people believe will end if 2 men or women get married? I am not sure what the issue is. I always thought any type of marriage would be outdated by now anyway. It's such an old concept. Besides people who are for the "sanctity of marriage" should be polled to see if any have been divorced.

  10. Referendum. To most people this is a non-issue. Most people do not care if gays are able to marry. It is like worrying about the spotted owl and your carbon footprint(nonsense). We need to deal with real problems like jobs and inflation.

The thing that I can't stand about gay marriage is that it will be shoved down the throats of our children in school and parents won't have any say because it will be "legal". Sorry I don't want my children taught about Bob and Bill and their lifestyle in kindergarten.
