ANNAPOLIS, MD – Governor Martin O’Malley today issued the following statement on the US 9th Circuit Court of Appeals ruling on Proposition 8:
“Many people understand that over the long term, the principles of equal protection under the law and of equal respect for the freedom of all will prevail. Today’s decision is further evidence of that truth.”

ReplyDeleteO Malley has enough pronlems in Md and needs to keep jis nose out of other peoples nusiness. I think he has some illusion that some day he will be a plater on the national political scene, but it will never happen. Not all Americams are as dumb as Marylanders.
ReplyDeleteCan someone tell me how allowing gays to marry is going to have a negative impact on job growth or national security? If you can't show this, then sit down and let gay marry all they want so we can get back to the real issues at hand!

ReplyDeleteMarriage is a religious institution between a man and a woman for the establishment of a family. No one should disallow a partnership between the same sexes but it should not be called a marriage. As far as O’Malley he is an idiot. None the less if we had to have a referendum on gambling then why shouldn’t we have a referendum on something as controversial as same sex marriage? The idiot will not allow it because he knows he will lose.

ReplyDelete8:50, do you think a referendum would have ended slavery, or allowed women and blacks the right to vote? How about integration of schools? The important issues aren't always readily accepted - they have to be fought for and sometimes legislated. Change comes hard for a lot of people who are quite happy to live in their own little world of ignorance.
ReplyDeleteIt just goes to show you it doesn't maatter what we the people say. It is the government elites making our decisions for us. This was on the ballot and voted down by the voters. Now a liberal court of three judge say we don't give a damn what we the people say, and change the law. What ever happened to the constitution.
ReplyDeleteThe state recognises marriages civil and religious. Still called marriage. Religion doesn't own the word marriage. This argument over a word is really grasping at straws.
