Obama To Visit New Museum In D.C.

President Obama is attending a groundbreaking for new museum on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. The National Museum of African American History will be topped by a tapering, bronze-plated crown. It will be the Smithsonian Institution's 19th museum. When it opens in 2015, the museum will contain artifacts such as a Jim Crow-era segregated rail car and the casket of Emmet Till.

  1. Sounds racist to me. What if we had a white history month. Or even a museum related to only white people. Boy they would really call us racist then however it is okay for blacks to do this. Sounds like a double standard to me.

  2. "a museum related to only white people"

Thats the point clown. The history books predominantly only tell the "white story". Leave it up to fools like you and you would think the white man single-handedly created molded America the beautiful out of clay into the shining city on the hill.

  3. 649-Where is the apparent racism in the other Smithsonian museums? Blacks support racism, but can't support themselves. They are the ONLY race/creed to not have ascended financially in mass within America. Another museum, holiday, or care package from Joe Taxpayer isn't going to fix the problem. Want to see how well Blacks build nations? Look at Africa. Bang up job brother.

  4. 723, there is no racism in saying "hey lets highlight African Americans' role in history". I guess you also think the National Museum of American Jewish Military History is racist? You highlight the exact need for increased awareness of black history by your @$$ backwards comment. Perhaps if you cracked open a book instead of a budweiser you would see that there were plenty of strong African nations and trade organizations before Europeans showed up to begin pillaging the land.

  5. 841-What about Africa, today? You can say Africa of 500-600 years ago was a great place, but history does not write itself, and often times is embellished(to say the least). Blame the euros, blame whitey, hell blame Oprah, but look around at Africa today, and Africans can only blame themselves. Nothing like attempting to celebrate a welfare check(ahem...state)
