Demand Congress Cut The Military Budget

Congressional Republicans are attempting to undo cuts to the military budget mandated by last fall's across-the-board "sequestration" process. The failure of the debt ceiling debateto produce a deficit-reduction plantriggered, among other things, a required $492 billion in military cuts over the next decade. 

House Armed Services Committee Chairman Buck McKeon, R-Calif., along with Florida Republican Rep. Ander Crenshaw, in December introduced the Down Payment to Protect National Security Act that would require a 10 percent cut in the federal workforce as an alternative to the first year of military cuts.
