A 20-year-old woman has been left brain dead - after she was Tasered by police and smacked her head on the ground.
Danielle Maudsley had been taken to a Florida Highway Patrol Station after being arrested for a suspected hit-and-run in September. Handcuffed, she ran out of the door.
But as footage from a police cruiser dashboard camera reveals, Trooper Daniel Cole, who this week was cleared of any wrongdoing, fired a Taser's electric probes into her back.

why dont these headlines ever read "criminal got what they deserved"?
ReplyDeleteI think the criminal here is the police for murdering another woman. They've murdered more then 500 people with tasers.
ReplyDeleteThe criminal is the woman fleeing the patrol station. She had been arrested. She made the decision to try to flee. What was the police officer supposed to do? Even if he had tried to tackle her, he could have harmed her. Or...was he just supposed to let her go? People need to take ownership of their actions. For every action there is a reaction and this officer did what he thought was his best option in this situation.
ReplyDeleteAmped up tasers and police cruisers with powerful engines should be a thing of the past. That would eliminate taser fatalities and high speed chases.Cut the taser output 25% and reduce the size of cruiser engines to V-6's.
ReplyDelete132pm is right.
ReplyDeleteMaybe not kill her would have been the right thing to do. Remember we are all innocent until proven guilty, she was handcuffed and shot in the back. You can tell from the picture the man shooting her was only 2 or 3 feet away, was he too lazy to chase her? To fat to catch her? or just like shooting young ladies in the back? The civil suite will be very interesting. My prayers and condolences go out to her family and also to the man (and his family) who killed her. He knows what he did and will have to anser for it one day. Tasers are so terrible and should be outlawed.
ReplyDeleteAWESOME!!! I guess she shouldn't have run, huh?
ReplyDeleteHow about stop making excuses for criminal behavior?
ReplyDeleteTaser didn't kill her. Falling and striking her head, which resulted in a fractured skull and brain damage killed her. Had he chased her and tackled her to the ground resulting in a fractured skull and her death, would that make you feel better? Either way running from the police is the wrong answer and she is ultimately the one to blame.
ReplyDeleteIt's a woman and male officer, she would probably claim sexual assault. Taser's have proven to far these injuring then physically restraining.
ReplyDelete10:02, simply not true, research it. Show the facts.
You people are ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteIm pretty sure that cop already had ALL of her information. AKA he knows where she lives, her name, what she looks like. Wouldnt be too hard to just find her.
And yes, 500 people have been killed from police tasers.
She was INSIDE a police station and in handcuffs. Who dropped the ball and let her make it out of the building. The police could have easily ran after and grabbed her without hurting her. Seem someone was lazy and dropped the ball. Yes she was guilty of her crime, yes she should not have run this was just handled wrong. The police are over using the tasers and they are going to be forced to stop using them all together.
ReplyDeleteIf someone breaks in my home and I grab my gun and they run out of my house can I still shoot them in the back?
This woman had two arrest warrants. The police had been looking for her for six months.
ReplyDeleteTackling her would have been more risky to her and the officer. A 200 pound officer falling on top of a 120 pound woman can do serious harm. The teaser is actually safer.
1,000,000 attempted suicide last year to put the 500 in perspective. Sad she was unluky and fell badly. Her fault she ran and died as a result. The jail time would have been better for her.
Stupid to run from the police.
