(CNN) -- Deja vu, round two, a bad sequel or simply "here we go again" are some ways to describe the latest fight over extending the payroll tax cut. But even facing an end-of-month deadline before the 2% tax holiday expires, lawmakers appear no closer to a deal.
With talks stalled, congressional leaders of both parties Tuesday suggested the delay is intentional, arguing the other side actually sees an election-year political advantage in no deal being reached.
Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Kentucky, speaking to reporters on Capitol Hill, accused Democrats of dragging their feet to help President Obama's re-election efforts.

God forbid the masses from paying for their Social Security benefits lol.
ReplyDeleteI do have one gripe about this Payroll tax cut stuff. It's a reduction in taxes paid to fund things that include Social Security funding, right? How come the Seniors that are living on their Social Security checks don't get a cut in the income taxes they pay on the checks they receive? Can't this be viewed as age discrimination? The Seniors didn't open up this can of worms.
ReplyDeleteWake up people! This 2% tax holiday is being paid for by the people getting conventional mortgages. The G fee....the insurance fund for Fannie & Freddie...has been increased to pay for this give-a-way. There is now a .5% difference in the interest rate between the FHA/VA rates when compared to conventional rates. Another class warfare example at its best. Until the housing sector gets back on its feet the economy can not and will not heal. Plain and simple...this will prolong the already dismal housing issue. Look it up and see for yourself the effects.
