Will Skins Fans Jump On The Ravens Bandwagon?

OWINGS MILLS, Md. — Since the Ravens came to Baltimore in 1996, they have made total of eight trips to the playoffs, winning the Super Bowl in 2001, capping off a great 2000 season with head coach Brian Billick at the helm and with one of the best defenses in NFL history.

In contrast, the Redskins have made just three playoff appearances over that time and their last home playoff game was a 27-13 victory over the Detroit Lions back on January 8, 2000.

So with a team 45 minutes to the north of D.C. having a good deal of success of late, including four straight trips to the playoffs with a home game coming up Sunday against the Houston Texans, would Redskins fans root for the Purple and Black during their playoff run? Or, would they even want to?

Well, many of the Ravens got a good chuckle out of talking about it on Wednesday.

  1. Not this Redskins fan. Guess you all don't remember the last Baltimore football team and how they just walked out on us? Yea I will never like a Baltimore football team, ever. The Redskins might suck, but they have always been there.

  3. redskins fans are just like steelers fans...for some reason they are expected to hate us!

  4. The Ravens are hated because every year they talk the talk but never walk the walk. Ray dances all over the place, Suggs acts like a goon and then they lose as usual. Good luck with Flacco and those GINORMOUS EYEBROWS. That's what is holding him back from being a decent QB.

  5. weve have walked the walk. in fact, we have been closer to walking than the redskins limp (or crawl in some cases)!

  6. You may have won a title ten years ago, congrats. Ray Lewis is on the verge of retirement, Flacco is a toss up which means you can never count on him when he is needed. Although the skins may not have had a very successful team they won't pack up and move out of Washington overnight.

  7. If there's enough money involved, you just might see the Skins pick up and move in the middle of the night too!
It was all about MONEY. The whole sport has become about THE MONEY and nothing more!
They're not interested in playing the game, they just want the money!

  8. Umm the Skins are one of the most marketable franchises in any sport in the entire world. So yea, I am not worried about them bolting in the middle of the night. I wonder where the Baltimore Colts fans shifted to when they left....anyway I would never support a franchise that just leaves its fans in the dust for "greener pastures" in Cleveland hahahahahahahahahahahah.

  10. You could say the same for the Orioles fans moving over to the Nationals. I'm sick and tired of Angelos milking the O's for cash and putting a substandard team on the field. I used to watch nearly every ballgame on TV, and now I don't even care. Last year I went to my first Nationals game, and it was great.

  11. I had my fingers crossed when Gibbs came back for a while.I'm still holding out for the skins, but they are a good 2 years away from being legitimate contenders. They'll play a super bowl quality game one week and not show up the next.

That's because an NFL franchise is a BUSINESS. Their primary purpose is not, nor has it ever been, the sport or the fans. Same for most of the players. If you think otherwise, you are misleading yourself.

    Don't see the attraction, frankly.

  13. Don't need any losers jumping on our bandwagon. Keep routing for those sorry pathetic Skins. The Ravens won more games this year than the Skins will win in the next 3 years. Oh yeah, they're on our schedule next year too, so that's another W for the purple & black.
