What An Interesting Day This Has Been

I wanted to share some information with our readers today to try and give you an idea how things are going for Salisbury News.

Today we put up an article that gained major attention not only on a local level but it really shook the roof in Annapolis as well.

You see, no one expected little old Salisbury News to produce numbers as accurate as we provided today and because we did so we were not only copied and read on the air, print media actually contacted us as well asking if we'd share exactly where we came up with our figures.

When you have a select group of patriots out there working hard every day, not for money, we do so because we care about our Eastern Shore and our way of life. We're tired of being subjected year after year by special interest and bought media who refuse to put things on the line. You see, WE feel YOU are NOT stupid. WE deliver you the truth and YOU can decide which source you can trust. Clearly by the consistent numbers we turn every day, Salisbury News ranks #1.

When the local media has to steal material from you, (you know who they are) and not give you credit for your work, then watch them throw out lines like Delmava's News Leader, (for example) the only people who believe it is the ones throwing the quote out there in the first place. They do so in order to walk into your business and say, look, we're Delmarva's News Leader, (for example) we'd like you to buy an ad.

When the rest of the media calls you and asks you to help them understand numbers, when some of them don't even call and get on the air and start throwing out numbers NO ONE has yet published, well, their thieves and that's all there is to it. All of which has happened today. In fact, we just put up another article about the businesses closing in this area and I have to believe its just too much work for them to actually do a report on it. They don't want to let you know things are as bad as they actually are, just like their NOT exposing how bad crime actually is here until Salisbury News came along.

I guess the worst part is them having to actually bow down and say that their source was Salisbury News. Some of these people would rather break the law and get sued first before they'd actually admit we've been providing stories well in advance. Heck, let's take the Teacher fainting at Bennett High School today. Let's see how long it takes before they come up with that story. My guess, no later than the 6:00 News and maybe even by the 5:00 News.

It cracked me up the other day when I went to the County Council Meeting, no WBOC at all! Once they saw our article they RACED to the GOB and interviewed Joe Holloway. Then they put a reporter at Bennett Middle School and went live from there at 6:00 PM. Those jackasses couldn't even take the time to be there for one of the most important stories, perhaps of the year. But they have their little munchkins sitting at their computer where they admittedly are told they must refresh Salisbury News every 5 minutes to see what's going on. They saw the response/comments and put it in high gear.

Greg Bassett from the Daily Times blew his stack today and came out of hiding to write an editorial about all kinds of stuff going on. He attacked the City Council over Paul Wilber. Then he attacked the County Council about Bennett Middle School. Guess what Folks. The Daily Times NO LONGER HAS THE INFLUENCE THEY USED TO ENJOY! That's why Greg Bassett started pounding his chest. God Forbid they start losing the biggest accounts they have, the City, the County and the BOE. Without them they're nothing and they know it. So the big Chief has to step in and say, LOOK AT MEEEE, we love you guys and we're madder than hell. Shut up Greg, you look like a fool.

All in all it's been a very interesting day. We may not get the credit we deserve but you and I know who's doing what. Thanks for letting me vent.

  1. Your "interesting day" was a lot better than Greg Basset's "interesting day". Poor Greg wouldn't know interesting if it bit him on the butt.

  2. You are sooo entitled to vent. We all know life is not fair....but thankfully some us feel we do not have to accept it quitely! More people should complain when something is wrong, then maybe Congress & Adminstration would not have been able to put this great nation where we are. Bravo for you!

  4. How is a teacher passing out anywhere freakin news to be covered by anyone ? It's a violation of their privacy- how would you like it if it was your family ?? People fall ill at their jobs all the time whether it's at a school, post office, store, ect.- why should this be on the news ??

  5. AMEN - You could not have stated it any better. This is exactly why I return here each and everyday - sometimes - twice, thrice. When I get to work - at breaktime - I go out and get my laptap and click onto SBYnews. Then at lunch - I do the same.

    When I get home my wife says;
'so what went on today' and I tell her. She's even amazed as to what transpires in our town.

Thanks Joe for giving a stellar service to our community.

  6. Absolutely! The Daily Times is run by uninformed cronies who never say a bad word about the Democratic establishment, but will blast the hell out of regular people in office who try to represent regular people.

The Tv stations are staffed by 10-year-olds who don't know how many branches of government there are.

But here? You don't have to agree, but at least you'll get something real to talk about!

  7. Thanks Joe for what you do and please just keep on keepin on - we never would get the truth if it weren't for you.

I just finished reading that garbage he wrote. And some woman was actually commending him for it, blah blah blah. I wonder if she works for him or ...something else.

I have seen you and others talk ill of him before, this time I had the misfortune of seeing it firsthand.

No wonder the majority of journalists suck nowadays if they have this kind of 'leader'.

Not a good career move to be smarter than the boss I guess. Or maybe they just hire warm bodies.

Anyway, I had my laugh for today now on to the news.

As you can tell by todays Daily Times editor's rant - there are vast fundamental differences in perceptions between SBYnews & The Daily Times.

Look at the opinions page - PAC's leader chastises County Council's vote and SBYnews shows factual evidence to the contrary.

Then again - under DT business section - DT reports how factory production increased and things are looking rosier - SBYnews shows factual evidence that the economy is not so good . We could go on-and-on but the bottom line is that SBYnews is on-whole - fair and balanced. For the average working american - SBYnews gives a glimpse as to what is actually going on verses the DT's playing on people's emotions.

Speaking for myself - it is refreshing to see SBYnews as an expression of 'Free Press' - something we haven't witnessed around here in several decades.

Absolutely, AND we get to participate in that.

I don't know about the local economy, except I don't think it looks good. I did see a headline today, but didn't read story, of Ford Motor Co. giving their EMPLOYEE'S a pay raise.

I'm pretty sure they mean the guys on production line and not management.

I don't know if that's indicative of the rest of the country, and it is a UNION gig. Who knows.

  11. The FMC raises are for management personnel who have not had raises in a long time. The pay rates for assembly line workers are set by union contract and include scheduled raises in pay.

  12. Just shook my head when I saw Bassett, who isn't the smartest person in any room, whining about the City and County Councils.

What's wrong with changing city attorneys? Not a damn thing. What's wrong with saying, "New school, nice idea, but we don't have the money"? Not a damn thing.

The people who got us into all these messes are mad that somebody might be interested in getting us out of them. How selfish can these power hungry people be? A newspaper is supposed to be a watchdog against that. Instead it's a willing accomplice as I see it.

Ok, thanks. Like I said, I didn't read story. Thanks for the clarification.

  14. Ok, now you made me go read it. lol.

Ford is giving pay modest 2.7% raises and bonuses to about 20,000 salaried workers, mainly in the U.S. and Canada, the Associated Press reports.

Letters sent to workers last week say they'll get the raises starting April 1. They'll also get bonuses based on performance. It will be the first raises for salaried workers since 2010. Last year, they got bonuses.

Ford signed a contract with the United Auto Workers for its hourly workers last year that delivered bonuses, tying pay more closely to the automakers' financial performance.
