Va. Lawmaker Proposes Selling Marijuana In Liquor Stores

RICHMOND — Del. David L. Englin wants you to know that he’s no pothead.
The husband, father and Air Force veteran said he has never smoked marijuana — let alone inhaled — but he still wants to study the possibility of legalizing the drug in Virginia.
Englin (D-Alexandria) has introduced a billthis legislative session that would create a group to figure out how much money the state could reap if it legalized marijuana and sold it in more than 300 Virginia liquor stores.

  2. Grand idea! The effects are far less dangerous than alcohol and studies have proven it.time we stop wasting tax dollars fighting a war that can't be won.and focus on prescription pills and hard narcotics. The amount of money saved would be astronomical. Hell..I bet even the prison/jail population would drop by a quarter percent.

The only real reason it was banned in the first place was because of the Dupont company being afraid hemp would shut down their nylon division being cheaper and just as strong. And the government added by not figuring out how they could tax it!

Its all about the money.trust this.as soon as the government can figure out how to control its growth and be the only group to manufacture and sell it.it will be legal.just as most states have done with prohibition alcohol and their alcohol beverage commission /ABC stores.

  4. Just like I said --- across the nation, lawmakers (who previously called for life in prison and other draconian measures for drug users), will, as they look at their imbecilic budgets and realize that they have already taxed and fined the citizenry to the point of insurrection, all of a sudden will see marijuana as a life saving drug. Not that bad at all. Probably should find a way to TAX it!! Think of the revenue. And remember --- its ALL about money. NOT your "safety" or your "kids" or your "health" or even your "security". M O N E Y. Say it loud!! Show me the MONEY!!!!
