Resume:
Bridgeville, DE- The Delaware State Police Crash Reconstruction Unit is currently investigating a serious motor vehicle crash that occurred yesterday evening just west of Bridgeville.

The incident happened as Wanda Milligan, 44, was operating a 1999 Dodge Caravan and was traveling northbound on Atlanta Road approaching Federalsburg Road. As Milligan reached the intersection, she failed to stop for a stop sign, and entered into the eastbound lane of Federalsburg Road. Milligan’s vehicle then struck the trailer portion of a 2002 Freightliner tractor and trailer. The force of the impact knocked the rear wheels off of the trailer.

Wanda Milligan, who was properly restrained at the time of the crash, was removed from the scene and flown by Delaware State Police helicopter to the Christiana Hospital Trauma Center where she was admitted with serious injuries. Alcohol use by Milligan is being considered as a factor in the crash.

A front seat passenger in Milligan’s vehicle, Sharvonda Ferguson, who was also properly restrained, was removed from the scene by EMS and transported to the Nanticoke Memorial Hospital where she was treated for her injuries.

A rear seat passenger in Milligan’s car, Amber Dobson, who was not properly restrained, was ejected from the car. She was also removed from the scene by EMS and transported to the Nanticoke Memorial Hospital where she was admitted with serious injuries.

Ivan Tiburcio was not injured.

The roadway at the scene was closed for approximately 5 hours as the crash was investigated and cleared.

This crash remains under investigation by the Delaware State Police Crash Reconstruction Unit.

  1. this is a rough intersection. the stop sign on atlanta road has been covered by trees in the past. lives have been lost due to accidents at this intersection. how many more people will be permanently disabled or killed before a light goes in at this intersection?

  2. A light at this intersection? It is in the middle of nowhere. I have been through this intersection many times and I have never found it to be dangerous. This woman was drinking and didn't feel like stopping. Putting a light in the middle of nowhere is a definite over reaction.
