America's public school teachers are seeing their generations-old tenure protections weakened as states seek flexibility to fire teachers who aren't performing, according to a new analysis.
I agree,12:38. There should be some way to get rid of ineffective teachers rather than protect them with tenure. As I retired teacher, I saw so many really bad teacher who had gained their tenure (by teaching two years and being hired for a third in the same jurisdiction) by being observed once or twice a year. Of course, the teachers' union would be against any such change in the tenure rules to make it easier to fire teachers. Good move.
Yayyyyyyyyyyyyyy! It's about time.
