It appears that the engine noise and splash were made by oyster poachers using a power dredge, not by an airplane. The noise was from the auxiliary engine and the splash was the dredge basket hitting the water. Rumor is that DNR has them in custody.
"Authorities said that at around 7:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 20, 2012 an NRP officer aboard a Maryland State Police helicopter saw eight commercial boats power-dredging for oysters within the sanctuary."
So it appears, if you are telling the truth and not repeating gossip, that it took from Friday AM to Sunday PM for the sputtering and big splashing sound to reach the shores of Wenona. Get real.

Well, if you've ever been to Wenona, it IS really slow down there!
