Even though the official documents state the school has issues, LOOK AGAIN!!!!!
HOW OLD IS THE CURRENT BENNETT MIDDLE SCHOOL?????? Was it built in 1982 or 1987? I THINK NOT!
25 - 30 YEARS? TRY THIS, it was built in 1965.
"One would anticipate" the group that was analyzing the project would come to understand when the school was actually built and HOW OLD it truly is. They are saying that school is in the shape one would expect it to be after 25-30 years.
Considering how OLD Bennett Middle School is, even by their own evaluation, that school is in GREAT SHAPE. However, you're NOT hearing or seeing this information ANYWHERE ELSE! We didn't make this up Folks. What you are seeing above comes from the official Bennett Middle School Feasibility Study.
I think I better sit back for a while today and read ALL of the reports I've been able to get my hands on. To give you another idea, Wi Middle School was built in 1930 and is on schedule to get new air conditioning.
Things that make you go, hmmmmmmm?
New Posts to fall below.
Almost everything the WCBOE does anymore makes a person go hmmmm...
ReplyDeleteGet over it. You and your minions lost. Nuff said.
ReplyDeleteI guess if we condemned every house/ building older than 45 years there would no longer be anywhere to live and work! Look around and think about that!

ReplyDeleteSounds like Mike Dunn.
I think the school might have been started in 1965 but it opened to teach in 1966 I started there in the fall of 1966 and it was brand new that year
ReplyDeleteKeep us posted on what else you find in the report. It would be really interesting to read.
ReplyDeleteJoe, please dig, dig, dig! I for one greatly appreciate you putting the TRUTH out there. The BOE has been out of fiscal control for years.
ReplyDeleteI hope the state tells the county sorry for the change of heart but a deadline is a deadline and you missed it. No school for you!
ReplyDeleteWhen was Wi Middle built? Wi Hi?
ReplyDeleteMy parents graduated in 1953 from Wi-Hi (what is now Wi-Middle). So it is atleast 59 years old that we know of. What kind of shape is that building in? We never hear anything about it. And all the old churches downtown, what about them? It appears that structures aren't built the way they used to be, which is a shame...
ReplyDeleteI stated in the article Wi Middle was built in 1930. It was originally Wi Hi.
ReplyDeleteOops sorry, guess I was reading too fast. If Wi-Middle school was built in 1930, and is still in decent shape, then kudos to the ones that built it. :-)
ReplyDeleteWell as for Bennett being Old Wicomico Middle is the oldest, my mother graduated from that school in 1945! So how come bennett gets all the money for schools!
ReplyDeleteThe reason Bennett has had all the perks for years...the Bennett school district has, overall, the wealthiest and most influential people as residents...
ReplyDeletehmmmmmmmm....sounds like BOE, Slick Rick, et al pulled the wool over our eyes
It has always been the rich kids went to Bennett. I was in Wicomico Junior High when Bennett Jr. High was built. They split our class up. The rich kids went to Bennett and us poor kids stayed at Wi Jr HI. So if WI JR HI was built in 1930 it is 82 years old this year.
ReplyDeleteBennett Jr High finished in 1966 would only be 46 years old. That means Wi JR HI is almost twice as old as Bennett Jr. So why not build a new Wicimco Middle School instead. Seems to me if you are that worried about air conditioning for the kids. You could just air condition Benntt Jr. High. However when I went to school none of the schools had air conditioning. I suppose that is why we were out of school for the summer. we never died from not having air conditioning. So I suppose the at Bennett Junior High won't die either.
I think there is some confusion here. I thought the original Bennett Jr was built on the property the new school is today.
ReplyDeleteThe Bennett middle school came years later and built on the properity it is today.
I went to John Bassett in Smyrna for middle school-it was built in the 20s
ReplyDeleteSCHOOL VOUCHERS NOW!!! GET IT ON THE BALLOT
ReplyDeleteTeachers should realize that O'Malley is taking money out of the Teacher Pension Fund to pay for these schools and declaring that Counties replace it. What happens if the money is not replaced?
ReplyDelete1:53 all you will get is a great big DOH!
ReplyDeletethe first class in "bennett high school" was in 1962. the first graduating class was 1966.
ReplyDeleteunfortunately the construction in the 60's was shoddy in many cases. we are paying for that shoddy construction now. the "bones" of the original "wi hi"; now "wi middle" are very good. back in the day people cared about the quality of their work.
i still don't agree with the latest outcome of the vote that was taken by our county council because we really can't afford this. we have no choice now. the only thing that can save us is if the state turns us down or if we can get more money from the state.
i don't think our elected officials try hard enough to get money from the state. we have always been short changed. the squeaky wheel get the grease. we don't squeak loud enough.
Is it true that there were other, less expensive firms bidding for the city solicitor's job? If so, can you shed some light on the selection process?
ReplyDeletehey 5;23, things that for sure make you go hmmmm.
ReplyDeleteWhat about East Salisbury. My child sits in a class all day in the heat during the summer and they do not have heat in the winter so he wears a coat all day in school..
ReplyDeleteNo air, no hear?
