McDonnell Proposes Selling Naming Rights To Roads, Bridges

WASHINGTON - WTOP's traffic reports could include updates on congestion near the Five Guys Interchange or on the State Farm Insurance Bridge.

That's if a proposal from Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell that would allow the state to sell naming rights to its transportation infrastructure passes the General Assembly.

Under the proposal, private entities will be able to put their names on highways, interchanges, bridges and other infrastructure for an annual fee.
