Feds End Chevy Volt Investigation, Say Car Is Safe


The government ended its safety investigation into the Chevrolet Volt on Friday after concluding that the Volt and other electric cars don't pose a greater fire risk than gasoline-powered cars.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration began studying the Volt last June after a fire broke out in one of the cars three weeks after it was crashed as part of safety testing. Two other fires occurred later related to separate safety tests, and NHTSA opened an official investigation into the vehicle on Nov. 25.

  2. It's really interesting that the government is incharge of safety for motor vehicles.
    We are now producing cars or trucks that can reach speeds of 150 mph and more.
    If one had an accident at speeds from 80+ the chance of survival are minimal.
    Our good ole government at work.
    The camaros , mustangs and some crysler products have recorded speeds of well over 140+.
    I thought the speed limit in most areas was 55.

  4. Prior to Obama taking over GM this would have been congressional investigations, mandatory recalls and stop sale notices.
    Funny how the rules change when you have friends in Washington.

    No, just around here. Most states have raised it to at least 65.
