  1. If this keeps up, it will only make Obama harder to beat. Good for those out of work, bad for the conservative GOP candidates. May be four more years of interesting blogging and talk radio.

  2. If this keeps up, more people will have jobs. Maybe we could focus on what's important for the country and not who we can credit or blame for the situation.

  3. Once they downsize the military, it will go up again.

  4. Great news. The plan is working.....

  5. Its bullshit. They will have the public believing it's below 8% by election time in order to get obammy elected again. Only sheeple believe this nonsense.

  6. And where is the employment coming from? Government jobs? DHS? Agencies like we saw at SS office checking ID'S?

We can do without 'jobs' like these.

  7. "And where is the employment coming from?"

    Maybe from seasonal holiday employment?

  8. It's a conspiracy! The sky is still falling. It can't be true if it happened under Obama's watch. Get a life.

  9. They also don't count people that have maxed out unemployment and have all but gave up looking for a job.

How about the increase in welfare? It's just all about election year BS for a desperate man.

There will also be further cuts to government programs, costing more jobs and the cuts are needed to balance the budget. Look at what has become of local support from federal and state cutbacks.

Now they are just passing some of that debt off to the states and then the state must make cuts to local governments. Passing the anti-buck!

  10. I wonder what would need to happen for wingnuts to believe anything.
Maybe if Jesus told them or Glenn Beck.

  11. These numbers are very far from reality.
The fact is that people are running out of unemployment benefits and are no longer being counted.
The books have been cooked to try and make Obummer look better.
Anyone who believes things are getting better is a willing fool!

  13. Where are these numbers coming from? I suspect from the same people who are telling us that the recession is "over" and the economy is doing great. Staristics show only what the guy who is paying for it wants to show. My own observations do not support such nonsense. The closer we get to elections, the more of this bs we can expect.

  14. This announcement may be to encourage people to look harder.

  15. Let's not forget that these figures don't count those who don't get unemployment and those who are not working similar jobs they had before.

  16. Don't be fooled by these numbers. You can look at any previous year and see that these numbers are based mostly on Seasonal hiring for the holidays!
Watch next months report and you'll see what I'm saying is correct!

  17. All this is from stores hiring extra help for Christmas. Watch January and February it be right back up to 9 or 10%. And yes they do play with the numbers to make them look better. There are many people that ran out of unemployment benefits. and the one that stopped looking for a job. Just remember this is an election year and they will try to make it look as good as they can.

  18. PEOPLE, this is coming from Fox News. Do you honestly think they want to report anything that might make Obama look good? Either they're "fair and balanced" or their not. You can't have it both ways.

  19. 12:32 here. "they're" both times - I'm not that ignorant!

  20. Obama playing with the numbers, The real unemployment rate is 16%.
