Now you know why the City of Philadelphia has been in a five decade downward spiral of Democratic Party rule. These government drones just pass ridiculous law after ridiculous law, while burying businesses under higher taxes and more regulations. Businesses have been leaving the city for decades. I wonder why. I find it hysterical that they pass this mind numbingly bad law for all businesses, but the city government drone agencies are exempted from following the law.
Don’t comply and a government thug will fine you $2,000.
New Philly law bans job application question on criminal past
Job applicants with criminal records will now have one fewer obstacle to getting a job in Philadelphia. The “ban the box” law, signed by Mayor Michael Nutter in April, takes effect Friday.
“Ban the box” prohibits Philadelphia businesses with more than 10 employees from asking applicants — on job applications and during an initial interview — if they have any criminal convictions. They can be asked later in the hiring process.
The law will give ex-offenders a fair shot, said Kevin Dow, the city’s deputy commerce director.
It “doesn’t guarantee them the job,” he said. “It is just designed to give that applicant a leg up — at least to be able to get their foot in the door.”
Employers who break the law face a warning notice for a first offense, and a fine of up to $2,000 for each infraction after that.

I know of a Vet who recently applied for tuition assistance and was asked if he had a record. When he replied "no", was told, "that's too bad, it would have helped you out"
ReplyDeleteHas anyone else experienced this?
Stupid libtards. Why on earth would anyone vote for these dumbocrat morons?
ReplyDeleteDon't necessarily agree with the approach here but something does have to be done. A very young man makes a dumb mistake at 17 or 18 (like many young kids do), does his time, but then is expected to come out and be a productive citizen even though he's locked out of the job market. What do you expect the man to do besides going back to hustling in the streets?
