Thief At Regal Cinemas In Salisbury

Several friends suggested that I send you some pics and information about a theft we had at the movie theatre on Saturday 11/5.  We of course have displays to advertise upcoming movies.  One of the more interesting ones we recently received were some 5' cut out of the Chipmunks for the upcoming Chipmunks' Christmas movie.  Kids and Families enjoyed taking pictures with these.

It seems as part of a prank or just plain selfishness a young college aged student walked off with one of these.  I assume they are in some college dorm room or house now.  Seems to me that it's not something that will go unnoticed.

The 1st picture is a shot of the kid that I was able to capture as he is walking towards the lobby just before the theft.  The 2nd and 3rd pic shows the guy casing the standee and then eventually stealing one.

As a reward, I'm offering a generous amount of free movie theatre passes to anyone who assists in the re-acquisition of our property and/or the identification and apprehension of the criminal.  We have spoken with the police and will prosecute if we can discover the identity.  Other than the picture we can only say that he watched the movie Harold and Kumar 3D Christmas and he was with another male (see the 4th picture - maroon SU sweatshirt).

Thank you.

2 Children Killed In Route 50 Crash

Two children died in a crash on Route 50 east of the Beltway Friday night, Prince George's County Fire confirmed.

The accident involving three vehicles happened after 9 p.m. on Friday, near Martin Luther King Highway.

According to police, Gloria Vindel of Glenarden was driving a Honda Accord in the left lane of eastbound Route 50 when she crashed into the rear of an Isuzu Axiom, driven by 43-year-old Mahmoud Sesay. Two children were in the backseat of Vindel's car.

The two drivers stopped in the left lane of Route 50, and Sesay got out of his vehicle to talk with Vindel. While the two spoke, a third car, a Mercury Marquis driven by William Lewis of Bowie, crashed into the back of Vindel's Honda.

The Honda, pushed into the center median of Route 50, burst into flames. Two children, 11-year-old Anthony Vindel and 2-year-old Delonte McKie Jr., were trapped inside the vehicle. An earlier report indicated one of the children was in a car seat.

Several motorists, including two off-duty police officers and a volunteer firefighter, attempted to rescue the children from the car, but were unable to because of the extreme heat. They both died in the fire.

Squeezing Out The Last Nickel

A father walks into a restaurant with his young son. He gives the young boy 3 nickels to play with to keep him occupied.

Suddenly, the boy starts choking, going blue in the face. The father realizes the boy has swallowed the nickels and starts slapping him on the back. The boy coughs up 2 of the nickels, but keeps choking. Looking at his son, the father is panicking, shouting for help.

A well dressed, attractive, and serious looking woman, in a blue business suit is sitting at the coffee bar reading a newspaper and sipping a cup of coffee. At the sound of the commotion, she looks up, puts her coffee cup down, neatly folds the newspaper and places it on the counter, gets up from her seat and makes her way, unhurried, across the restaurant.

Reaching the boy, the woman carefully drops his pants; takes hold of the boy's testicles and starts to squeeze and twist, gently at first and then ever so firmly. After a few seconds the boy convulses violently and coughs up the last nickel, which the woman deftly catches in her free hand. Releasing the boy's testicles, the woman hands the nickel to the father and walks back to her seat at the coffee bar without saying a word.

As soon as he is sure that his son has suffered no ill effects, the father rushes over to the woman and starts thanking her saying, "I've never seen anybody do anything like that before, it was
fantastic. Are you a doctor? "No, the woman replied. I'm with the I.R.S.

This Is The Only Way To Change The System

Late in the evening on November 4, 1605, an English soldier named Guy Fawkes took up his position deep in the cellars beneath the House of Lords in London’s Westminster Palace. He was armed with 36 barrels of gunpowder and intended to blow up the building, taking King James and most Members of Parliament with it.

Fawkes was discovered hours later, just after midnight on the 5th. He was captured, interrogated, and tortured, ultimately revealing details of his co-conspirators in what became known as the Gunpowder Plot.
History never let it go. To this day, the 5th of November is still commemorated, officially as a celebration of the government’s triumph over its domestic enemies.

[As an etymological note, the word 'guy' is actually derived from Guy Fawkes; it was originally intended as a term of derision but by the 20th century evolved to its current meaning of any male.]

As you can imagine, the aftermath of the Gunpowder Plot was anything but comfortable in England. The country became an all-out police state– arrests, interrogations, and inquisitions were all commonplace as the government attempted to smoke out its enemies.

Occupy Protesters, Cops Struggle to Balance Conflict With Sympathies

It was the chant that defined a generation. "The Whole World is Watching" was the battle cry of anti-war demonstrators at the 1968 Democratic National Convention, as violence raged in the streets of Chicago, and Mayor Richard Daley's police department unleashed an epic show of force.

Fast-forward 43 years to today's "Occupy" protests, and from Twitter to Tumblr, Facebook to Foursquare, the chant couldn't be more relevant as the anti-Wall Street movement spreads, confrontations with police escalate, and reports of crime inside the camps multiply. But what are we seeing?

Republicans in Early-Voting States May Be Giving Cain Benefit Of The Doubt

DES MOINES, Iowa -- Republicans in early voting states like Iowa seem to be giving Herman Cain the benefit of the doubt for now -- but they also say they need to know more, nearly a week after the disclosure that he was accused of sexually harassing women who worked for him in the 1990s.

"It's concerning, but it's not a big deal," said Cindy Baddeloo of suburban Des Moines, one of more than two dozen undecided Republican voters interviewed in Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina in the days since the allegations -- which Cain has repeatedly denied -- surfaced.
