Thief At Regal Cinemas In Salisbury

Several friends suggested that I send you some pics and information about a theft we had at the movie theatre on Saturday 11/5.  We of course have displays to advertise upcoming movies.  One of the more interesting ones we recently received were some 5' cut out of the Chipmunks for the upcoming Chipmunks' Christmas movie.  Kids and Families enjoyed taking pictures with these.

It seems as part of a prank or just plain selfishness a young college aged student walked off with one of these.  I assume they are in some college dorm room or house now.  Seems to me that it's not something that will go unnoticed.

The 1st picture is a shot of the kid that I was able to capture as he is walking towards the lobby just before the theft.  The 2nd and 3rd pic shows the guy casing the standee and then eventually stealing one.

As a reward, I'm offering a generous amount of free movie theatre passes to anyone who assists in the re-acquisition of our property and/or the identification and apprehension of the criminal.  We have spoken with the police and will prosecute if we can discover the identity.  Other than the picture we can only say that he watched the movie Harold and Kumar 3D Christmas and he was with another male (see the 4th picture - maroon SU sweatshirt).

Thank you.

  2. You idiots! If you're going to steal have sense enough not to wear your school letters. Bet your parents are so happy with the money they are wasting on your education. Self entitled jerks like you give SU a bad name. Really? Was the cardboard chipmunk cutout worth it? Losers.

  3. shame, and the people at su wonder why the rest of us don't care for su!

  4. Anonymous 7:40 why exactly are you attacking SU? Other than the kid "maybe" going there what involvement do they have? I'm pretty sure they aren't teaching Petty Theft 101 or Grand Larceny 202. Yes the kid was stupid and yes stealing is wrong, but I highly doubt that if he does go to SU that they had anything to do with it. Maybe you should wonder why the rest of us don't care for you because you say stupid things like that!

  5. Anon7:41am You are off base with your post,Truth is that one bad apple spoils the bunch. It is impossible to say at this point that the thief is from S.U. However history has taught all of the folks that live here full time their are a bunch of a--holes attending S.U. Thus goes the saying one bad apple spoils the whole bunch. The dealings we have had with students from S.U.are far from pleasant in many cases. Trouble is the unpleasant dealings always over shadow the good dealings.

  6. 8:20, first of all the correct form is "they're" not "their are". Secondly, just because you've had bad experiences with students doesn't mean they're all bad. My wife and I both attended SU and neither of us were spoiled by any bad apples. I'm guessing that you're also one of those people that hate bike week because all people that ride motorcycles must be part of the Hells Angels. You probably hate the tourists that come down each summer because they create travel problems and you and your family can't go to the beach because they're too many people on the beach. Again I'm not saying that all college students are perfect, but what I am saying is it's not SU's fault. Personally, I feel the blame should fall on the parents. It's the parents responsibility to raise their kids not the faculty at SU. If you want to point blame some where why don't you point it at the parents of this kid and every other kid that you've had such a bad experience with and not the university. The parents have had 18 years with the kid, SU has 4 or 5.

I'm sure if you had it your way you'd shut down the university, close the bridges and roads into the beaches to block tourists, and not have any large gatherings of people here on the shore, i.e. bike week. You'd probably feel pretty happy about your accomplishment until our own local economy started to get even worse than it is now.

    Excellent idea!
close the bridges and roads to the beach. The shore was a good place to live before them.
The economy will be fine here once the parasites stop sucking from it.
Lets not even start on the university. Now that's a real prize. Ask any home owner around there.

  8. I concur with 8:02.There is no way to tell at this point if this guy attends SU.If on the other hand some young person had been caught on video doing something really good, like helping the homeless or something else noteworthy, would anyone accuse them of being an SU student? He looks like 75% of the 18 to 25 year old white males in the country. For all anyone knows he may not even be from this country.

  9. I am not trying to make light of the crime, but I do have a question. What is the procedure for these items after the movie has moved on? Is there anyway you can maybe have an auction on them and donate the money to a local charity?

  10. Pageant Grandmom I like your idea. Have wondered myself what happens to these displays.

  11. How was he able to get out of the lobby and door without someone stopping him? This was a 5' display, right?

  12. It dosen't matter if displays are thrown away or given to the poor. It was taken, stolen, what ever. What gives him or anybody the right to touch the property of someone else?

  13. @10:21,
Your kidding right? I live around the university, and the and I would bet that more homes are sold around the college, then anywhere else. I"m tired of everybody bashing the college, IT IS A SHINNING PART OF OUR CITY, and something we need to Embrace, and I am a little biased, both my wife and I attended there, and we also take the chance to experience a large portion of the arts/culture that the university brings. I would be willing to bet that not one of the dissenters have every been to one of the free art shows, or free Concerts,

Hard to believe you attended a university (or high school for that matter).

I was thinking the same thing. My bet is the author of the post is actually a slum lord trying to just their existence by making an anonymous post.
