A frequent reader who we'll call M. wrote in to offer his post-holiday moral dilemma. Well, it's not so much a dilemma, since he he's already done it. He bought a Microsoft Kinect controller online, but wanted to return it after the holidays were over. Too lazy to package the controller and mail it back, he instead took it to his local Walmart and returned it for store credit. $50 more than he originally paid for the device.

ReplyDeleteNo. If WalMart allows it then it's fine. If done too much maybe they'll be charging (and refunding) a fair, consistent price to everyone. If they want to continue to charge less online and offer refunds in stores at a higher price, and still remain highly profitable and grow like crabgrass in July, that's their choice - period. Those who think otherwise are the same folks who are flabbergasted at those who take advantage of government giveaways. The laws of unintended consequences will always prevail.
ReplyDeleteat least mention it to the customer service desk. if they tell you to keep it, so be it. if they shorted you $50, would you say something about it?
