if you loan something to someone, expect NOT to get it back. if not, you shouldnt be loaning to begin with.
i have loaned to family and have always gotten paid back. sometimes its taken a long time to get it back. except this last time. which is why it eneded.
I learned very young neither a borrower nor lender be. At 19, I loaned out $1000 to a friend and never got a cent of it back. You never talk about your finances and you never lend money.
12:04 and 12:27 are right. I've heard it said time and again, especially on "judge shows" where people are suing to get back money they loaned, that one shouldn't loan with the expectation of being repaid. Goodness knows how much I've "loaned" my kids. I knew at the time that it would become a gift.
Yes, the last time was to my son. He never repaid me and it's been over a year. Now he won't even call me, probably because he's afraid I'll go off on him, or ask him for the money back. His choices! Maybe he's finally learning that every action has a consequence! Have never loaned money to a friend. What a great way to ruin a friendship!
Yes...and lost those friends when I couldn't help them more and when I need help they weren't there. I have yet to this day see more than $100 back out of over $5000 total loaned. Family....no I have not. I have enough family issues without bringing money issues into it.
Yep, to a friend. He said he needed it to keep his electric from being shut off. I was told I would be repaid in 30 days. That was 5 years ago.
ReplyDeleteOMG yes.
ReplyDeleteI loan the government money every week in my paycheck and never get back what I loaned them.
ReplyDeleteI was told when you lend money you might as well figure you will not get it back. Consider it a gift. If it comes back feel fortunate.
