Romney: Islam Is A Peace-Loving Religion

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney says the Muslims he knows are "peace-loving and America-loving individuals."

At a campaign event in Cedar Rapids Friday, the subject of how to handle the threat posed by radical Islam was raised.

As reported in the Des Moines Register, Romney reminded the gathering he had grown up in the Detroit area which has a large Muslim community.

About radical Islam Romney said, "They take a very different view of Islam than the Muslims I know."

"I believe people of the Islamic faith do not have to subscribe to the ideas of radical, violence and jihadism," added Romney.

One man at the event claimed he had not heard Muslims denouncing Islamic jihad or terrorism.

Romney countered, saying , "Most Muslims are peaceful people who deserve respect" but he emphasized radicals pose a threat to Americans and others around the world.

  5. 2:58, you don't sound very educated yourself. Romney is saying that the Muslim's HE knows are peaceful people. The ones that I know are similarly so. To try to label all Muslims or even most Muslims as radical would be the same as non-Christians labeling the rest of us radical based on the actions of that sick bunch in Kansas (I believe), who target military funerals to carry signs of hatred. 12:49, how could Romney be lying if he said what he did? He was commenting on his own experience with the Muslim community. (And, by the way, you mean "they're," not "their.")

  8. 3:35 Instead of giving 12:49 grammar lessons why don't you educate yourself on the human rights violations moderate muslim men commit against muslim women every day! They are hardly peaceful and loving.

  9. You people have to be some of the dumbest ever. Go ask one of the thousands of muslims who have lost a son, daughter, mother, or father to a terrorist attack how they feel about radical islam.

Whats even funnier is that you are the same guys talking about armed revolution in the US.

  10. 4:02, I'm sorry that you feel that way. Have you ever met a Muslim? I know some local Muslims, and they are indeed peaceful people who have no use for the radical segment, the group responsible for 9/11.

There is a big difference. The ones you speak of are not going by the teaching of the bible. God gives us free will. How we act is our own responsibility. Read the new testament God does not tell us to kill. Now open the quran and find where Allah talks about love. You will not find it. You will however find where allah tells them to kill and how they can lie if it benefits their religion. There is the difference. If people followed the bible and what it says it would be peaceful. The quran teaches to kill infedels (nonbelievers)

The KKK, westboro and the priest are not following the bible when they do the horrible things they do. The people that blow up planes and buildings and the suicide bombers ARE following the quran. That is the difference. If you were a member of a church and wanted to leave the memebers would still pray for you. If you wanted to leave islam you could be beheaded as is instructed by the quran.

At best you are misinterpreting the Koran, at worse you are lying.

People say and believe those things without looking it up for themselves. It simply is not true.

There are some radicals who twist what they read to believe this but it is not what the Koran teaches.

  14. 11:21 the koran also teaches that it is ok to lie and deceive "infidels" or anyone who is not Muslim. The Koran DOES teach that non believers must convert or be killed.

  18. 7:28 here you go

    quran 8:12

Wrong still. Read it in context and get help if you need it. That was God speaking to Muslims about a battle that was about to happen.

    quran 47:4

    Same thing.
This verse, like 8:12, is speaking about the believers’ conduct in an open battle against the enemy. God is “psyching up” the believers before a battle, just like American soldiers psych themselves up before they go into combat. It is not an open call to behead all infidels. Once again, when the verse is understood in its context, this becomes obviously clear.

In fact, the verse actually is one of mercy toward the enemy. After the battle is over, during which the believers are to “smite their necks,” the verse directs the believers to set free those who are captured by the Muslims, either “by an act of grace or against ransom.” These captives are avowed enemies, who would have killed the believers if they had the chance. Despite this, however, the verse directs the Muslims to set them free. How, in God’s Most Holy Name, can this verse be one of terror?

But, you know, anyone can misquote, mistranslate, or quote out of context a verse of scripture to seemingly prove a point. This has been done with the Biblical text for centuries to justify such things as slavery and racism. Muslim terrorists do the exact same thing with the Qur’an to justify their heinous acts of murder. But just because they do so, it does not mean the Qur’an is therefore violent. Capice?

and maybe you can explain the meaning of
    quran 4:34
    quran 38:44

Another example of mistranslation of 'DaRaBa' can be found in the translation of 38:44. All the translations (except Dr. Khalifa"s translation) inject a male-made story to justify their silly translation. Here is how Yusuf Ali translates the verse about Job:

"And take in the hand a little grass, and strike therewith: and break not (the oath)."

Yusuf Ali, in the footnote narrates the traditional story: "He (Job) must have said in his haste to the woman that he would beat her: he is asked now to correct her with only a wisp of grass, to show that he was gentle and humble as well as patient and constant."

However, without injecting this story, we can translate it as the following:
"Now, you shall travel the land to fulfill your pledge (that is to deliver the message). We found him steadfast. What a good servant! He was a submitter" (38:44)

In addition to all the well written information from Mr. Yuksel (above), it must also be added that those who interpret the word “iddribuhhunna” in 4:34 to mean "physically beat" are in fact violating three Quranic principles, and they are:

1- God prohibits all aggression. To physically beat another person is an act of aggression no matter what justification anyone may have:

“do not transgress, God does not like the aggressors” 2:190

2- God commands husbands and wives to treat each other with love and mercy, once again beating up the wife is not a merciful act:

“And from His signs is that He created for you mates from yourselves that you may reside with them, and He placed between you affection and mercy. In that are signs for a people who reflect.” 30:21

3- To soften the issue, some scholars have claimed that a husband may only beat his wife if she commits adultery.

But when we examine this interpretation, once again we find that it contradicts Quranic law. In the case of adultery, God has already prescribed a fixed punishment of 100 lashes (24:2). The important issue here is that the same crime or sin should not entitle two separate punishments. If a wife commits adultery and is given 100 lashes, then her husband beats her as well, she would have received two separate punishments for the same sin.

Hope that helps you. Anyone can take a verse from the Koran or the Bible and make it say what they want it to. I can take a verse of the Bible to say there is no God. But that is not what the Bible is saying if you read the context.

Now please, don't waste my time, your time and everyone else's time with this. If you really want to know what something says, read it. Study it. Get help to understand it.

Don't take other people's word for anything, find out yourself. Peace.

8:12 No reasonable person would think that this means a spiritual struggle or a single battle
47:12 Those who reject Allah are to be subdued. The verse then goes on to say the only reason Allah doesn't do the killing is to test their faithfulness. Whoever kills passes the test.

If you think the verses about the domination of women are incorrect then I can't help you. There are so many more verses about the incompetence and worth of women than the two I have listed. One only has to look at the women in muslim culture today to see that this is true. Look at Saudi Arabia which is one of the most advanced of the Muslim countries and the women are not allowed to drive and must walk behind their husbands. Can you only imagine the lives these women live in Pakistan, Iran, Iraq and Afghanistan. Forced to wear burquas, living in fear for their lives. You would think that the middle east would have evolved into a more peaceful and humane region by now if they were following a peaceful and loving god.

  21. I thought your allah was all powerful and all knowing. Why does he have to have people fight in his name? Does he not have the power to do away with the "bad" people?

    ReplyDelete
  22. Qur'an 9:5 "When the sacred forbidden months for fighting are past, fight and kill the disbelievers wherever you find them, take them captive [enslave them], beleaguer them [torture them], and lie in wait and ambush them using every stratagem of war. But if they relent, [and become Muslims by...] performing their devotional obligations and paying the zakat tax, then open the way. Allah is Forgiving, Merciful." The Islamic god said, "I created Islam to start fights that will kill, enslave, and torture people by way of deceptive ambush. Surrender, or I will have Muslims terrorize you."

Bukhari:V9B84N59 "Allah's Apostle said, 'I have been ordered to fight the people till they say: "None has the right to be worshipped but Allah." Whoever says this will save his property and his life from me.'"

  24. (smite their necks) Last time I looked smite means to strike or inflict a heavy blow. Twist it anyway you want it means to cut off their heads. A god that wants to psych up people to murder??
A few other questions. Why can muslim men marry nonmuslims but muslim women can't marry nonmuslims? Why when the parents die do the female children get nothing? Lets see how you twist this one.

and btw it was not green grass it was a green branch. Mohammed himself beat little Aisha. But that is just another problem with islam. You follow the teaching of a man that married a child.

  25. Okay, 3:32 pm, so in case of adultery, 100 lashes; well, that's not the same as beating! Beating, then would be more violent or less?
How about considering something like... well... Divorce, the third alternative! Or is that too violent for you?

    WOW.
