The occupations of public space have already done a great deal to lift the veil of lies. People are now more aware than ever that the wealth divide is caused by a rigged economic system of crony capitalism and that we can create a fair economy that works for all Americans. We are also aware that many of our fellow citizens are ready to take action – extreme action of sleeping outside in the cold in a public park. And, we also now know that we have the power to shift the debate and force the economic and political elites to listen to us. In just a few months we have made a difference.

Occupy is Not Just About Occupying: The Goal Is Not To Occupy It Is To End Corporate Rule
With encampments being closed across the country it is important to remember the end goal is not to occupy public space, it is to end corporate rule. We seek to replace the rule of money with the rule of people. Occupying is a tactic but the grand strategy of the Occupy Movement is to weaken the pillars that hold the corporate-government in place by educating, organizing and mobilizing people into an independent political force.

The government rules Wall street so once again the protesters are way off base. All they are is a mob to harass any group that the Democrats disagree with.

ReplyDeleteWhat is the 'corporate-government'?
These people are idiots.
Wall St and corporate America own the politicians therefore they are making the rules. Some of these so called regulations that the government mandates and are supposedly running out business are the result of lobbyists hired by corps as a way to skirt the anti trust laws and run out competiton. See how the corps have the government in their pockets? Don't think for one second congress works for you. Why do you think they end up worth millions on a congressional salary?
ReplyDeleteIt's tit for tat on capital hill. I'm sure some saw the legal insider trading going in congress segment on 60 minutes.
Talk is cheap. If the protesters want to do something about it, put your people in the political system. You can't change it from the outside.
ReplyDelete7:52 --- what is the "corporate-government"? Have you read the list of appointees to just about every important position in the Treasury, the Federal Reserve, and the IRS? Corporate CEO's who scratch the backs of their former employers with hidden bailouts, interest free loans (in the BILLIONS), trillions in bailouts, and other nefarious and underhanded acts, none of which are designed to benefit (or even be KNOWN) to "we, the people". Which, by the way, also negates 7:45's claim that the "government rules Wall Street." LOL!!! Have either one of you been paying attention to U.S economic policy in the last 5 years? And who has benefitted from that policy? Clue -- it AIN'T "we, the people".
ReplyDelete90% of the rest of the world would have sent their military in to disperse these groups. Those who refused to comply would have been treated very harshly or killed.I love this country and it's freedoms, but not to the point where our freedoms render us helpless.
