Newt Gingrich Says Poor Kids Have No Work Habits, Suggest Janitorial Work (VIDEO)

Newt Gingrich has defended his suggestion that poor kids should work as janitors, commenting that they have "no habits of working" nor getting paid for their endeavors "unless it's illegal."

“Really poor children in really poor neighborhoods have no habits for working and have nobody around them who works. So they literally have no habit of showing up on Monday,” Gingrich told more than 500 employees inside the Nationwide Insurance lunchroom, NBC News reported. "So they literally have no habit of showing up on Monday. They have no habit of staying all day. They have no habit of 'I do this and you give me cash,' unless it's illegal."

  6. Newt is dead on.Young people need to work. They need to have pride in what they do and how well they do it.The fact that some are appalled by his comments is further proof of how society has declined.

  7. Newt Gingrich needs to stop this insanity. He is profiling a whole group of people as being the same. Out of poverty have risen many brilliant and productive people. Child labor laws were created for a reason. From what I have seen lately it is our government and politicians that don't have a clue about work ethics.

  9. at least he has the guts to tell it like it is. the others sugarcoat everything and promise free college but they leave out the part you will be in prison while you get your free college education. this country needs to get back to work and in turn crime should drop. the world needs ditch diggers too. I started at the bottom when i graduated high school in 1980, min wage and now my home and cars are
paid for and i am doing well. I did not go to college i operate on common sense.

  12. He may have the "guts" or "balls" to say it but how stupid of him to do it. He's done!!! There are more of them than us and he won't get elected like that.

What he should do is like the rest of the politicians - lie to us until he's elected and then let these excellent ideas be known.

  14. Sure, it may be true, but WHY???? Because they can be paid to stay home and live off welfare! Why be a "Janitorial Assistant" for the same pay that they get for couch video games??? Duh, Newty, you need to fix the cause of this problem instead of inventing yet another government program that sucks more tax dollars that tries to correct a government program that has gone viral sucking way too many tax dollars already! THINK for a minute! Oh, wait, your goal is to make more government and taxes... I forgot...
