A Letter To The Editor 12-27-11

Can you help me remove a dead deer from the roadside on Pemberton Road?

If you have driven on Pemberton Road during the last month, you have noticed a dead deer, just across the street from the daycare center, just west of the Williams market, about 40 feet from the state road. It’s easy to spot, it now also has a Christmas wreath that someone placed on the site recently.

I know that the animal didn’t choose to be killed on the state road then dragged into the field. A more respectful place might be the right answer for this dead
animal, do you think?

I have a truck, a trailer, and a tarp needed to remove this deer. I need someone to help me remove the dead deer, should only take a half hour of your time. My cell number is 443.690.9299.

Thank You
R. Turner

PS – When you throw the fast food trash out your window, it will draw hungry wildlife onto the road. Please put trash in a trash can.

  1. FYI, that is Nanticoke, not Pemberton.

  2. i have been looking at that deer for a month or more. I loved the RIP RUDOLPH sign that was up for 2 days. I think the wind blew it down. I think the deer is a good lesson in life and death and serves to remind everyone to be careful driving in that area at night. You want to clean up deer, try firetower rd. I saw no less than 7 dead deer on it no less than a week ago.

  5. I hardly believe that this deer was at the road eating trash. The deer was not drug into the field, that is where it ended up. It is the responsibility of the landowner if they want to remove it. You will need their permission to enter the property to do so.

  6. What does Wicomico Ditch Patrol do? They ride around the recycle bins off South Division all the time. The driver of the van pulling the trailer marked as such cuts people off and is a very unsafe driver. He cannot or does not use his mirrors, gets in left turn lane then turns right using no blinkers cutting other cars off and is dangerous. If I drove like that they would pull my Commercial License

  7. Ditch Patrol? There is a litter control and a ditch cleanout crew. They are all inmates with the exception of one guard. The deer would not be the job of the county as for one, Nanticoke rd is a state road and secondly, the deer is on private property. As for being around recycle bins, they clean up the mess left by the ignorant public that can't find the holes, or just throw their crap on the ground, don't break their boxes down, can't call the "when full" number on the side etc. etc.....oh, but the public is always right? WRONG.

I don't know about you, and if you have been driving for any length of time, even local, you would see truck drivers doing the same thing and worse.

Having a commercial license does not guarantee a professional driver. That takes time and experience.

Having a daddy, granddaddy, uncle, cousin or any other person 'train' someone does not either. They could just be teaching their own bad habits to others, and the cycle continues.

Driving abilities have decreased in all classes of licenses in my opinion.

The only traffic laws they seem to enforce are speeding and perhaps seat belt violations. And now cell phone usage.

Only the ones where a quick conviction and money can be generated easily.

You have to drive for others as well as yourself to be safe. Even then, no guarantee you will return home.
