How Can I Make A Scammy Contractor Refund Me Or Replace My Roof?

Austin thought he was being sensible and avoiding scammy contractors when storms hit his area and his roof needed replacing. He turned down one contractor who just didn't look professional, but the contractor he ultimately chose screwed him over while looking nice and professional. He paid for a roof replacement back in September, but the company stil hasn't showed up at his house. He's run through all of his legal options and filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, and now doesn't know where else to turn.

  1. BBB has no authority to do anything. They just sell memberships to businesses to be listed on their site. And keep a "history" of complaints people file with them. It's basically angie's list with a fee.

  3. Nothing can be done... if you exhausted all other avenues...

    One other try tho, would be to talk to the state attorney or someone of the sort...

    After that, no options or hope... trust me we had this problem but with a contractor whom wasn't even licensed and did brick work...

  4. more reason to check out a contractor before hiring them. I always check em out before hand. Lot's of fly by nights out there!
    ask your neighbors and friends you would be surprised what you can learn, ask for references?

  5. Isn't it illegal to damage your property? Have you called the police? Is it a violation of your constitutional right to own property when it was damaged without your ok?
