Jesse Ventura first entered the public eye as a professional wrestler, but in 1999 he was elected governor of Minnesota as an independent. His diverse career also includes service in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, movie and television acting, lecturing as a visiting fellow at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government, and hosting a talk-show.
