The good ole days were when you went downtown to Read's Drug Store, Woolworth's 5 & 10, R. E. Powell Company, Montgomery Wards, Watsons Smoke House, Ralph and Gaskills, Gumby's Hardware, White and Leonards. You had two way traffic with parking meters on both sides of the street. Also you saw Police Officers walking the beat downtown. That is how thjey got the nickname flatfoot from walking all the time. on the parking lot for the library behind main strret was Shoremade Ice cream, Ed Taylors Shoe Repair. Also on the corner was the Wicomico Hotel.
Is that Montgomery Wards I see, or maybe its the YMCA, no I guess I need my glasses, its an empty Vernon Powell, oh where oh where have they gone and just left their car. At least the car is nice.
Nice picture!
