WASHINGTON (AP) -- A U.S. Senate panel has approved legislation that would authorize the creation of a national park in Delaware.
The Energy and Natural Resources Committee approved the bill on Thursday, sending it to the full Senate for consideration. U.S. Sen. Tom Carper praised the decision, saying it moves the state closer toward having a park that "preserves and teaches" the lessons of Delaware's history.
