Marijuana is now legal under state law for medical purposes in 16 states and the District of Columbia, encompassing nearly one-third of the American population. More than 1,000 dispensaries provide medical marijuana; many are well regulated by state and local law and pay substantial taxes. But though more than 70 percent of Americans support legalizing medical marijuana, any use of marijuana remains illegal under federal law.
Prohibition proved the government doesn't do the will of the people. And, I forget. How did Prohibition work out? I mean, OTHER than give rise to massive criminal syndicates, untold murders, hundreds of millions of uncollected taxes, imprisonment of hundreds of thousands of Americans and the corruption of thousands of police, prosecutors, and judges? And maybe I'm mistaken, but didn't the government, after ALL that stuff, finally say, "Okay, we give up. You're right, people will drink alcohol NO MATTER WHAT LAWS WE PASS". Unfortunately, they did NOT release the prisoners or bring back the dead. But I'm POSITIVE....absolutely positive, that the same laws and resulting criminal syndicates, murders, corruption, and loss of tax revenue is not, and will not, occur THIS time. I could be wrong....but when the government has devoted trillions of dollars in a war thats lasted over 40 years and has been so successful so far, it's hard to change direction, or admit their stupidity. Maybe voting will help.

ReplyDeleteYou may not respect rap music, but this man told the honest truth at all times through his music. Just stop and think, Does this government we have really always have our best interest in mind when making every decision....if you believe that then I will sell you some ocean fron property I own in Utah.
The economy is down, there are no jobs for anyone, the taxes are being raised, Corporations like GE get by with paying no taxes, health care is being diminished in the quest to give it away to more people as those that pay for it struggle to do so....
ReplyDeleteWho really gives a cluck about medical pot? Some of us just want to eat.
524-Some of the people that want to eat are stricken with cancer, and medical marijuana helps boost a persons appetite.
ReplyDeleteThe whole system is collapsing and all these fools are concerned about is pot. If it wasn't coming from a dysfunctional government, I would say it was unbelievable, but this is exactly what I have come expect anymnore. If we don't get rid of the idiots running this country, we are doomed.

I think it is too late for that, and, we have never gotten rid of them for over 200 years.
