BALTIMORE (AP) - A federal jury has acquitted Maryland state Sen. Ulysses Currie of conspiracy, bribery, extortion and making false statements in a public corruption case against the prominent lawmaker, who had chaired a powerful budget committee.
The jury gave its verdict Tuesday relating to the influence peddling case involving the 74-year-old Currie, a Prince George's Democrat, and two former Shoppers Food Warehouse executives.
The executives were also acquitted on related charges.
