OWINGS MILLS -- Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis says he was fined by the NFL for a helmet-to-helmet hit on Pittsburgh Steelers receiver Hines Ward in Sunday night's game.
Lewis hit Hines in the second quarter of Baltimore's 23-20 win. Ward was dazed by the collision and helped off the field. He did not return.
Lewis said Wednesday he was informed by the NFL that he would be fined for the hit. He would not disclose the amount of the fine.

How can an occasional helmet to helmet hit be avoided?4 quarters of football lends itself to a great deal of beating and banging.I just hope that the NFL does not become so over regulated that a competitive game can no longer be played.
ReplyDeleteTouch foot ball appears warrented.
ReplyDeleteIt is about time this dirty a$$ed player gets fined. He's gotten away with this for years!
ReplyDeleteReally...I think the "dirty a$$ed player" got hit in this case not fined.
ReplyDeleteLewis didn't get flagged but Clark did, which helped the Ravens win the game. The officiating was terrible on Sun. from the first play (very questionable holding call), the original call for the Rothelisburger TD, to inconsistent P.I. calls, and down to the Clark helmet-to-helmet call.
ReplyDeletehe's gotten away with alot more than dirty hits on the ball field
