A Letter To The Editor About WCDC

Joe,

WCDC is full of favoritism. This is proved by the hire of relatives and some are in a supervisor position with control over their relative. There is Major Elliott and Officer Elliott, Major Moore and Lt. Moore, Sgt. Stevenson and Two Officer Stevensons, Two Officer Kellams, Two Officer Cottmans, Officer Bowling and Officer Tull, Two Officer Andertons, Officer Purnell and Officer Briddell, Lt. Dickerson, Sgt. Dickerson and Officer Dickerson, Two Officer Garrisons, Two Officer Passwaters, Two Officer Sullivans.

This is a violation of the Wicomico County Personnel Manual Chapter 7. The cover ups and unfair promotions, the unfair treatment of employees who are on the outside and left to fend for themselves. No one knows what to do about all the issues at wcdc because if you speak up about anything, your life will be made miserable by the command staff.

The command staff controls your vacation time, time clock, and what post you work. WCDC is a job made miserable by favoritism, power trips, and cover ups to name a few. Working here is like Survivor, choose your alliances carefully or you will be voted off the island.

  3. Wow I wondered why I have not heard from Wicomico County after turning in my resume and application with highly recommendations from the Delmar Police Dept. back in August of 2011 for correctional officer. I was told that I missed the august testing but would hear from them about the september testing and to not worry because there was alot of openings. Thus being said, It's November 16th 2011 and still have not heard a thing. I guess I don't have the right last name?

  5. Just for the record, not all the people with the same last names are related, and some people who are related are co-workers, not supervisors. Grow up.

  6. Its the whole County, not just the jail. You can thank the previous administration for hiring their special friends who are health wise in dire straights and need good health insurance which drives up the cost because of major disease issues where high dollar treatment is needed monthly. Old Teddy, Matty and company hired whoever would help his political motives.

  7. Like to know how the New Sgt. got Sgt. new he has not been there Six months. The Wicomico County Personnel Manual its says that you have to be off probation to move in anyway dept. and up the chain.Probation is one year for officers I forgot he worked a ECI with the Warden. Officers that have been at WCDC for years that wanted to be Sgt. didn't a a chance when he came to work there. I bet he will be the next LT. or Captain at WCDC. So I hope no body that works there tries to go for any of them because your not in with the Warden.

  9. This makes sense, most of the new hires are relatives of current or past employees. Seems like the command staff will soon be replaced with retired ECI personnel. Favoritism is very obvious here and not hard to prove.
