JoePa Didn't Do Enough To Stop Abuse,Official Says

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - Football coach Joe Paterno and other Penn State officials didn't do enough to try to stop suspected sexual abuse of children at the hands of a former assistant football coach, the state police commissioner said Monday.

Paterno might have fulfilled his legal requirement to report suspected abuse by former assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky, state police Commissioner Frank Noonan said, "but somebody has to question about what I would consider the moral requirements for a human being that knows of sexual things that are taking place with a child."

  1. According to news reports, a graduate assistant discovered Sandusky having anal sex with a boy who looked to the assistant to be about 10 years old. The assistant, who was understably shaken by what he saw, called his dad for advice; his dad told him to tell Paterno. He told Paterno what he had seen. Paterno reported it to his boss, the Athletic Director at PSU. Then the incident apparently was covered up. Paterno followed the process correctly, but he is perceived as having protected his protege. Paterno has only one course of action: resign immediately. Such a shame that so lustrous a career as Paterno's has been forever tarnished.

  3. I grew up in PA where Joe Paterno was looked upon as a hero! Hmmm.....now I am having second thoughts.
I think more will come out of this than meets the eye.
Wonder if this kind of perverted stuff goes on at other universities? Makes you wonder sometimes!

  4. Sports and the Catholic Church think the laws don't apply to them. Why was this never turned into the police? Makes them all guilty of a cover up. Paterno should have gone to the police not just his bosses.

  5. Ask any former player from Penn State, a lot of guys got creeped out by Joe Pa. "Touchy" feely if you know what I mean. This scandal won't stop with Sandusky.

  6. Was watching a film clip of Sandusky being carried off the field after their win at one of the bowl games. He actually "blew a kiss" to his players.....is that kind of weird?
