We doubt many will be surprised by the latest presidential polling update from Gallup, and certainly not the record nearly 50 million Americans on foodstamps, but here it is nonetheless, from US News [6]: "President Obama's slow ride down Gallup's daily presidential job approval index has finally passed below Jimmy Carter, earning Obama the worst job approval rating of any president at this stage of his term in modern political history. Since March, Obama's job approval rating has hovered above Carter's, considered among the 20th century's worst presidents, but today Obama's punctured Carter's dismal job approval line. On their comparison chart, Gallup put Obama's job approval rating at 43 percent compared to Carter's 51 percent." One can only imagine what would happen to Obama's ratings if indeed the Iranian hostage situation escalated and the president was forced to get involved, in addition to oil spiking to "doomsday" levels of course as Pimco's worst case predicts: "Back in 1979, Carter was far below Obama until the Iran hostage crisis, eerily being duplicated in Tehran today with Iranian protesters storming the British embassy. The early days of the crisis helped Carter's ratings, though his failure to win the release of captured Americans, coupled with a bad economy, led to his defeat by Ronald Reagan in 1980." And while some may say this is merely a one time blip, a longer-term average shows otherwise: "Gallup finds that Obama's overall job approval rating so far has averaged 49 percent. Only three former presidents have had a worse average rating at this stage: Carter, Ford, and Harry S. Truman. Only Truman won re-election in an anti-Congress campaign that Obama's team is using as a model." On the other hand, neither Ford nor Carter has such erudite opponents as Herman "I did not sleep with those 999 women" Cain.
Here are the job approval numbers for other presidents at this stage of their terms, a year before the re-election campaign:
Harry S. Truman: 54 percent.
Dwight Eisenhower: 78 percent.
Lyndon B. Johnson: 44 percent.
Richard M. Nixon: 50 percent.
Ronald Reagan: 54 percent.
George H.W. Bush: 52 percent.
Bill Clinton: 51 percent.
George W. Bush: 55 percent.
Dwight Eisenhower: 78 percent.
Lyndon B. Johnson: 44 percent.
Richard M. Nixon: 50 percent.
Ronald Reagan: 54 percent.
George H.W. Bush: 52 percent.
Bill Clinton: 51 percent.
George W. Bush: 55 percent.
You don't hear much about places wanting to change their names obama like before. I bet the ones that did are sorry now.
ReplyDeleteFunny how the liberals (like Jim Ireton, Laura Mitchell, etc) whine about how the Repubicans have worked so hard to make sure Obama fails, but that's exactly what they are doing to the new council! The daily rag can't afford the ink it's spent on Ireton and Mitchell's jihad.
ReplyDeleteend the fed.
ReplyDeletei think Ron Paul will bring about much better, loving and Christian change that this nations needs. We don't need more bailouts or police or wars, we need more Love and Understanding.
ReplyDeleteFolks,
ReplyDeletePlease consider the possibility that the U.S. President is a token position in modern times. Please consider the possibility that the wealthiest families in the world control all of the political campaigns and in fact choose the candidates of BOTH parties behind closed doors.
It is AT LEAST a possibility - and if it is true, it has huge implications for how WE THE PEOPLE should behave from this point forward.
Education is not an easy process. The most readily available information is usually the information the elite want us to have. If they control information (and they do) then they control our minds.
Stop thinking in terms of the Left Right paradigm - and figure out WHO is in control of the information (media).

ReplyDeleteTHATS THE PROBLEM WITH THIS COUNTRY.
STOP TRYING TO SHOVE CHRISTIANITY DOWN EVERYONES THROATS.
This is a country of religious freedom, not freedom of christianity and nothing else.
Or well, one of many glaring issues.

ReplyDeleteI don't think anyone is trying to shove Christianity down anyone's throats. If people don't want to hear it they leave them alone.
Now gays, atheists and others WILL AND DO try to shove their lifestyle down people's throats every chance they get. And if people don't want to hear it, too bad.
They believe they have a constitutional right to force people to listen, watch and accept them. They are wrong of course.
They have even enacted laws protecting these people. If you tell them how you feel about them you risk being charged with a hate crime.
But it's totally ok for them to get in people's faces, disrupt any peaceful gathering and have parades whenever and wherever they want.
As far as I'm concerned they can do whatever they want as long as I don't have to watch it or hear it.
I wish they could extend the same courtesy to others. But they refuse to do so. And they will always be hated for it.
Practice what you preach.
