Automakers Getting Rid Of Spares To Cut Costs, Reduce Weight

Hey buddy, can you spare, a spare? That's what some stranded motorists find themselves asking AAA when they pull over and discover that the spare tire, once standard, has become optional.

    Not only should you have a spare, but I prefer a full size spare, not those donut cheapie tires!

    It's up to the owner/driver to ensure the vehicle is in good operating condition, and has sufficient resources (fuel, oil, spare tire, etc) to be on the road.

    It's been an option for years. I didn't think twice about checking the box for a full size spare.

    Next thing you know, they'll do redesigns so there's not even SPACE for the spare!

    Tires are a SAFETY item and there should ALWAYS be a spare, period!

    You don't need a spare with runflat tires, and the weight savings gives you better fuel mileage
