Sources Say Sen. Reid Wants Millionaire Surtax to Pay for Jobs Bill

Senate Democrats are considering a surtax on millionaires to offset the cost of President Barack Obama's $445 billion jobs bill, according to several party aides.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., outlined plans for a 5 percent surcharge in a closed-door meeting with the rank and file, according to participants, as Obama traveled to Texas to deliver his most caustic challenge yet to House Republicans who have not allowed a vote on the legislation unveiled nearly a month ago.

  2. For those of you who think you're "safe" from this, the devil is in the details. How does Reid define "millionaire?" Remember, "rich" is anywhere from 150K to 250K plus (according to "Dear Leader" and the Dems), depending on the day of the week and the audience. And remember, too, that some of you work for these "millionaires" who will probably take that 5% out of your pay and/or benefits. Reid and his cohorts won't stop that from happening and won't even care or try. Smoke and mirrors, people, smoke and mirrors!

  3. The Dems are desperate for a way to get some respect for a failed administration. Show us the numbers.Show us the specifics of who will be taxed,at what rate and how much money it will generate. Then show us where the "jobs bill"money will go,how much to whom? Of course we will not be privy to any specifics because there are none. This is not a jobs bill, only an attenpt to line the pockets of the people that will be leaving D.C. after the next election.I see it this way, fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.
