Sex Offender Arrested After Tip From Public

Defendant and Charges:

-Tyrone A. Gray, 45, Lewes, DE

-Rape 4^th Degree (4 counts)

-Unlawful Sexual Contact 2^nd Degree

-Sex Offender Unlawful Sexual Conduct against a Child   

Arraigned at JP Court 3 and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institute for lack of $65,000.00 secured bail.

Lewes, DE- Delaware State Police detectives have arrested a Lewes, DE registered sex offender for the sexual assault of a Dover male after a tip from the public.

The investigation into this incident began on Sunday, October 23 after a concerned citizen contacted the 9-1-1 call center advising that they had seen what appeared to be a young male or female enter into a residence located in the 17000  block of South Brant Street, in Lewes, DE. The caller advised that they were aware that a registered sex offender, Tyrone A. Gray, resided in the home and was concerned for the safety of the juvenile.

Troopers responded to Gray’s home where they came into contact with him as well as a 17 year old Dover, DE male. Through further investigation it was learned that Gray and the male victim had communicated on a computer website and had met each other in Dover on Friday, October 21^st. On Sunday, October 23, Gray and the victim met again at the Dover Mall. Gray then drove the victim to his residence where the sexual assault took place.

Tyrone Gray, who is currently a Tier II medium risk registered sex offender, was arrested and charged with the above list of crimes. He was arraigned at JP Court 3 are then committed to the Department of Corrections for lack of $65,000.00 secured bail. The victim was not injured.
