Salisbury's 3rd Friday Another Flop

Only 7 vendors on the Plaza. At max, 25 people walking around. Jim Ireton and Matt Maciarello were walking around shaking hands. Laura Mitchell asking for signatures to her petition, she is telling people the "3" are going to take over Salisbury.

Maybe one day people like Maciarello, Ireton and others will learn that their partnership with the "other blogger" just isn't worth a crap and this proves, (once again) he has no following or audience.

I'm ALL about supporting this community but unless the leaders put their differences aside, I'm NOT going to support them.

Many people called me very upset around 5:00 that Division Street was closed off without warning. Mayor Ireton closed it off and had Firefighters all over the place. I guess if he loads the Downtown up with his Staff he'll feel like the event is a bigger success. Instead, he just pissed off a lot of people and cost the taxpayers a lot of money.

  1. The city brags about being the largest city on the shore but towns like Berlin and others draw a hundred times more people then Salisbury on their Friday events.

I doubt the mayor will ever agree that its because no one likes him. I guess that's not exactly true. Maybe 25 people that showed up do.

  2. How many businesses are left downtown?

  4. I won't go because of John Robinson. He walks around telling everyone he wants to buy their building or owns this and that. The guy gives me the creeps.

  5. Anonymous 8:51pm - SOOOO Right I saw the guy there tonight and he gave a "I am taking your clothes off with my eyes" wink EWWWW. Anyway back to the subject 3rd Friday was a huge BUST!!! No pun intended.

  6. Joe, I'd come to third friday if you opened your building for people to see. I think its the nicest building downtown. Then you could head butt that Robinson jerk and throw him out. I'd come out there in a heartbeat.

  7. Mitchell is telling people whaaaat? For trying to prevent the continued abuse of power by the mayor, whoever it is? First Tilghman, now Ireton, so there's a pattern. People who get elected to that position nowadays think they are the king or queen of Salisbury. Pretty clear that Mitchell didn't run to be a member of council, she ran to be an ally of the mayor.

  9. I thought the event about 125th Anniversary of the Great Fire was interesting. From reading your posting and comments, it sounds as if no one was aware of the event. I read in the DT and heard it on local TV stations that such an event would be held, but not sure if SBYNEWS carried ant details or not

My kids loved the mini parade of old and new fire engines from other towns, and I thoroughly enjoyed reading and learning of the loses from the posters, along with the facts of why the out of town firemen were there. Nice event.

It is sad so many have to complain about 3rd Friday. I have made new friends at all the 3rd Fridays and we look forward to attending. Come on folks - give 3rd Friday a chance, come on out with a cheerful attitude and you will see what I mean. Don't gripe and complain over every little thing people do to try to make 3rd Friday a success.

8:37 PM Salisbury could easily have what Berlin has. The people of Berlin have no time to gripe and complain because that are too busy helping to better their town, Try it with Salisbury - it will work if the nays get an attitude adjustment.

  10. anonymous 10:06, Yes, it was advertised in the rest of the local MSM but like we've been trying to tell everyone, the majority of people are now coming to Salisbury News instead. No, I'm not trying to pat myself on the back. Look, we've earned it. We have been working very hard for many years now and now we provide more information than any of them.

Face it, the Main Stream Media is done. People want to go to the Blogs now because, (if respected) opinion is the wave of the future.

Aside from that, we do things the MSM thinks they're too big for any more. We go out and clear sidewalks and driveways and we encourage others to do the same.

Its people like Ireton, Maciarello, Lewis and others who think their sh!t doesn't stink and have forgotten where they came from. These people don't ring bells, they just get their picture taken with a bell in their hand.

We unite the community and we can do so, (as proven in the past) with 3rd Friday. However, FOR WHAT? All Ireton is interested in is taking the credit. Well, guess what, it's FLOPPED in his face and he's getting exactly what he deserves.

Look, there's going to come a day when each one of these people are going to need Salisbury News. The ONLY time we're going to respect them is the day they put their differences aside and respect the fact that this is our job, 7 days a week. And I'm not talking a few months before an election. I'm Italian and I do NOT forget.

If Ireton, Maciarello and Lewis was to start including us in press releases, press conferences and so forth, we'll show our respect in return. Until then, these people are on their own and guess what, HOW'S IT WORKING FOR YA!

  11. One thing I have always noticed is your dedication towards law enforcement. I started coming to this website about four years ago and learned there was a lot more crime going on then I had ever realized. Information was presented here that I had never seen elsewhere. I have known Mike Lewis almost my entire life and I like Mike. I believe he's a great sheriff. His biggest flaw is his lack of partnership lately with your site. Once I realized you were here to stay I cancelled my subscription to the daily rag and I will not go back. Hopefully Mike opens his heart again and realizes how important your site is to many of us. We deserve to be informed and this is where I get my news.

  12. SBY is my first source of news every day.I appreciate the effort and professionalism that you put into this site. The "powers to be" don't openly associate with the site because they get mad when you offer views or news that conflict with their agenda.Keep up the good work and thank you for your efforts and dedication to the community.

  13. JOE,Just a thought. Maybe if they shift the Friday Night Event to Saturdays it would be more eventful for people to visit say from 10am to 2/3pm.The hrs.would be more in tune to peoples safety feeling visiting during the day.

  14. The fat one on the other blog claimed it was a great turn out?? WTH! He even posted pictures that proved no one was there except the paid firemen that were paid to be there. At all of Mare Ireton's press conferences the majority of the people at the press conference is his department heads. He knows how to stack a meeting with people he controls.

    Help Is On The Way!!

"Great Turnout tonight at Third Friday. The beautiful weather definitely helped bring people out. The 125 th Anniversary of the Great Salisbury Fire presentation was fantastic as The Chief of the Pocomoke, Wilmington. and Crisfield Fire departments were in attendance to receive awards in memory of their help putting our fire out."

  15. Was Jeff Simpson there? He hasn't been to work for the past 7 days? Where does he get all that time? H has been off numerous times since the beginning of the fiscal year July 1. Do new employees really get that much time off?

It doesn't matter if he was off or not. He and John Tull always says the keeper of the scorebook always wins.

  17. Salary job. How many hours a week does he work? Oversight and council should be aware of this.

If he's not able 24/7 then he shouldn't be chief. Many have jobs with less responcibilties and are required to be ready 24/7

  18. Third Friday was definitely a flop. How much did the tax payers have to pay for the firefighters to be there on overtime and all the expenses?

  19. When is the corruption in the fire department going to end. I believe this will be the downfall of Mayor Ireton and Councilwoman Campbell in the next election.

He is getting close to $100K a year without the appropriate credentials and qualifications. He does not live in Salisbury and goes home for many extended weekends. He has his flunky Senior Sniffer Tull running things for him. Next week he will be employed as a failed department head for nearly a year.
