Obama Blasts Republicans for Silence After Gay Soldier Booed During Debate

At Saturday's Human Rights Campaign dinner, President Obama delivered his remarks in a tone that many of his supporters wish he had adopted months ago, chiding GOP presidential hopefuls for not saying anything after a gay soldier serving in Iraq was booed by the crowd at the Sept. 22 Republican debate. President Obama criticized his Republican rivals, explaining that any candidate who hopes to be Commander-in-Chief must support all military members regardless of sexual orientation.

  1. He is right. It was terrible that none of them could step up and say something. That being said, he should have said something that night or the following day. It's obvious he knows this is a popular topic and is now just trying to get in on it for political reasons.

  3. 11:27 seems that Obama was the one who pushed for an end to DADT, and is the one pushing to bring the troops home

11:07 Obama was speaking specifically about DADT to a gay rights group. Seems to me the perfect time to bring it up.

  6. Don't discrimnate against gay people. Thats the law. BUT---- don't start telling me who and what I MUST like or dislike, accept or NOT accept. If someone doesn't like your lifestyle, they have every right (at least for a little while longer), to boo you til the sun goes down. Get over yourself. What if they booed a welfare mother bragging about how she raised 5 kids and never worked? Would you condemn those people, too, for judging THAT to be something that offends them? Or is free speech something you only agree with when the speech is something you AGREE with?
