Scores of immigrant families have withdrawn their children from Alabama public schools, according to state education officials, after a court ruling upheld the state’s new anti-immigration law.
The law, which was approved by the state legislature and is widely backed by voters, allows police to check for papers and detain undocumented residents without bail. It also mandates that public schools share with authorities the citizenship status of all newly enrolled students.
The law went into effect Thursday.
Hope they don't come to Maryland!
ReplyDeleteI feel sorry for the innocent children that will not be able to get primary education, but I am against illegal aliens sucking our economy dry.The illegals should and probably will move to a stae that will support them better.Bravo, Alabama.
ReplyDeleteGood for Alabama.Every state should have the same law. It should be a federal law.
ReplyDeleteGuess where they will be headed.
ReplyDeleteIn Huntsville, one of Alabama’s largest cities, 14 percent of Latino students did not show up for school on Thursday, and 8 percent were absent on Friday.
ReplyDeleteSo 6 percent came back?
Had the 6 percent taken off friday they could have had a four day weekend.
the same law needs to be put into place in our area. will probably put Perdue out of business but will save tons of money for local schools, hospitals, social services, criminal prosecutions, etc. if they are illegal, they don't belong here.
ReplyDeleteHey 8:55. Your kidding right?
ReplyDeleteMaryland will send a delegation there to actively recruit them.
It will be interesting to see the financial savings realized by the school system after just one year. If that is publicized many, many more states will jump on board.
ReplyDeleteShould have that law here, but it won't happen, they would have to shut down Purdue!
ReplyDelete8:55 + 11:36:
ReplyDeleteMaryland harbors illegals + the more they have here the more Democrats get a vote.
With people like Mulkulski and others you will never have any laws preventing illegals here.
Allen Foods has the illegals and not Perdue. I worked for Allens for a number of years and they do not like cops nor cops driving thru the parking lots because of illegals working there. There is a Human Resource director at Harbeson Delaware that is so tight with the illegals there the illegals pay for his vacation.
I hope they go the hell home!
ReplyDeleteIf people stopped using companies who hire illegals the problem will go away. So keep your eye on who your landscaping or construction company has working for them.
ReplyDelete10:48 & 12:36 This won't be the reason Perdue folds...they've got bigger problems.....
ReplyDelete11:51
ReplyDeleteIt will be interesting to see the saving but not only in the school system but other things like food stamps and such. If their children can't go to school there they will move out of the state.
and we should crack down on legal americans that are fraudulent collectors of disability for their own poor health and lifestyle choices
ReplyDeletebeing legal doesn't give them anymore rights
