WASHINGTON, Oct. 20 - Hundreds of defense contractors that defrauded the U.S. military received more than $1.1 trillion in Pentagon contracts during the past decade, according to a Department of Defense report prepared for Sen. Bernie Sanders.
Sanders (I-Vt.) called the report "shocking." He said aggressive steps must be taken to ensure taxpayer dollars aren't wasted.
"The ugly truth is that virtually all of the major defense contractors in this country for years have been engaged in systemic fraudulent behavior, while receiving hundreds of billions of dollars of taxpayer money," said Sanders. "With the country running a nearly $15 trillion national debt, my goal is to provide as much transparency as possible about what is happening with taxpayer money."
These are AMERICAN companies STEALING from you and me. Their mindset is that it is okay to STEAL from the government. This has to stop.
ReplyDeleteYes, they are American companies. Unfortunately, the Federal Employees responsible for overseeing these contract do not necessarily have the skills or capability to guarantee adherence to established policies that prevent fraud. If this were not true, the USPS would not have degenerated to what is left of it now.
ReplyDeleteHe reports "systemic fraud" in the hundreds of BILLIONS. Yet, he makes no --NONE, ZERO, NADA-- mention of ANYONE going to prison for "systemic fraud". Just make sure YOU don't write a bad check. In many states, that will put you behind bars. "Agressive steps" need to be taken? How about confiscation of all their assets, including all real estate, bank accounts, houses, etc. How about some charges under the RICO act? Get caught selling drugs, the government will take your home, your car, all the money they can find, confiscate your bank account, all your possessions and the REAL kicker? The police don't even have to CHARGE you or take you to trial to do it. And the best we can do with THESE guys is suggest (suggest??!) "agressive steps"? THAT'S the power of the military-industrial complex. Wouldn't surprise me at all to find out Senator Sanders has taken a few bribes himself. All part of the game, boys. Where IS that goof with the "system is working" crap?
