  1. Darn Kelly was driving the car, wow. This is way to close to home. I cant imagine how the West are this morning. This is terrible.

  3. That's a horrible, ignorant thing to say that the person that was driving had to be speeding. This was a terrible accident and I'm sure the driver is crushed over this. It was the case of a kid who didn't know enough to wear something bright when walking along the road, and he paid a terrible price for his lack of knowledge. May God be with the famililies of the deceased and the driver and her family.

  4. Yes, this is a tragedy. I learned about it last night, as the young man attended Delmar HS, where my grandson goes. However, 8:26, until the police have examined everything, I would not be drawing conclusions such as "The person driving must have been speeding." The young man may very well have been at fault, particularly if he was skateboarding. The driver is certainly suffering enough without accusing her of speeding.

  5. "The person driving must had been speeding that its terrible".

8:26, please don't assume you know what happened. That's why a "Crash Reconstruction Unit" is investigating. This is a devestating blow not only to Jerry's family, but ultimately for Kelly as well. Don't make her guilt worse by blindly insinuating that she was at fault. That's a dark country road, and the report says that Jerry was wearing dark clothes at dusk.

You have reminded me - once again - of how blog comments can be hurtful and cause rumors.

Just keep both families in your prayers.

  6. In the past week or so now that it is starting to get darker earlier, I have had to "swerve" almost to the other lane to avoid running into people walking/riding bicycles on the road who are wearing totally black clothing. They have no flashlights, reflectors, etc to even see spot them.

  7. My thoughts and prayers go out to BOTH families involved.

  8. most of these kids dont get out of the way anyway. they love to walk down the middle of the road to make the oncoming vehicle move.

  9. 8:59. Obviously you know the family, but it wasn't Jerry that was hit.
Secondly, I think it HORRIBLE that so many come here accusing the victim and the driver of wrongdoing when NONE of you were there. In my opinion, BOTH of them and their families are victims!
It is a very unfortunate tragedy and there is really no use in speculating and quite frankly, NO GOOD will come of it, nor change it.
That is what is wrong with society today. Instead of putting your own thoughts, feelings, opinions and rude comments out there, you could all be praying for both families as they are certainly going to need it.

  10. My prayers are going out to this family. They (Jerry and Becky) have been the backbone of the Delmar Pop Warner Organization for many years. There are no words to express to you all, except you are all in my thoughts and prayers.

  13. Jared wasn't stupid, he would have moved out of the way if he knew the car was coming.
I knew him and he was a great friend and a great person. He was so funny and talking to him always put me in a good mood. How about all of you quit judging him and have some compassion. I'm sure most of you have never met him, so stop making assumptions of him. Keep in mind that this is a life that has been lost. Have some compassion.

    1. Aimee u dont know what your talking about. Police checked phone records. No calls or txts send to receive around that time the kid was wearing dark clothing and skated in front of her it's a terrible tragedy but unfortunately the child was at fault.

    2. That Women works as a On Call Nurse every day and night of her ****ing life saving lives. I'm a relative of hers and although the things she's done has exhausted this lifesaver, she works to help other people and support them. She was so upset and hurt after this accident but you scream, "MURDER MURDER MURDER", even though you never saw or even gathered ANY evidence to say it was her fault. You are the one at fault here, not her

  15. No, the child was NOT at fault! This report is WRONG! Witnesses at the scene stated he landed in the NORTH lane of traffic, and her vehicle was in the MIDDLE of the roadway, also not reported here was the fact that there was alcohol and drugs in her vehicle, and that DSP didn't teat her for impairment. There was also a text received moments before the crash!

    1. Kelly Hovatter is a lifesaver and On Call Nurse that was driving to a patiants house taking an extra shift. I was not there to witness the event but I know that there was no alcohol in or near her vehicle at any time and all drugs located in her car are and still meant for patiants she treat and take care of throughout her job every day of her life. She was not intoxicated AND you lie about the texts and the fact that there is something called PHYSICS. Even at low speeds, a person being hit can send them into another lane or even on the sidewalk! You are the one at fault here for posting lie's and false acusations about this miracle worker! Don't post opinions you think are facts and have no evidence to back up with what you believe to be true!

    2. They are facts! Ask her directly. They found an open container if alcohol, half full, and various prescription drugs in bottles with HER name on them. Drugs that should not be taken while driving! She received a text from her baby daddy just moments before striking Jared. Her behavior at the scene and on the phone to 911 could not have been more unprofessional! She was on her way home from a class, not going to any patient's house. You are too gullible to see the truth!

  16. You poor kid. I feel so sorry for you Ayden. To be lied to by your own mother...
It makes me so sad to see that she still can’t tell the truth. One day God will let the truth be known. Those facts are true and there are real photos and evidence to support it. I can understand you not wanting to believe anything bad about your mom... but it’s true. It is absolutely sick that she lies to you and everyone that will believe her to make herself feel better. She killed a 15 year old kid. No matter what details. That will always remain a fact. He loved life. Of coarse she didn’t mean to. And it’s human to make mistakes. Which is why after all this time, it would give her more peace to just admit to them instead of trying to keep hiding it and lying about it...Just think about this. What does anyone have to gain from lying about to facts? Her freedom was on the line. She could have gone to jail. But the 15 year old kid who loved every day of his life and helping people, will never be back... his family will always suffer from his loss. So you think hard about who really has reason to cover things up and lie. Prayers. For peace, forgiveness, and courage to be honest!
