Resume:
Ellendale, DE- The Delaware State Police are currently investigating a dog attack in which a 74 year old woman was seriously injured this afternoon.
The incident occurred at approximately 12:05 p.m. today, Monday, as a 74 year old Ellendale woman went to visit her daughter at a residence located in the 20000 block of Saw Mill Road in Ellendale, DE. The daughter was the owner of a Pit Bull dog which she had put away prior to the victim entering the residence for the visit. After a period of time, the victim advised her daughter that she was leaving and in fact left the residence. However, the victim had left something behind and re-entered the home. The daughter, not knowing that the victim had come back into the house, released the dog from the room it had been in. The dog then attacked the victim causing serious injuries to her. The dog owner was unable to subdue the animal as this was occurring.
As responding Troopers arrived, the dog, which had not stopped its attack on the victim, became aggressive towards them, and had to be put down. Its body was turned over to the SPCA. The victim was transported by helicopter to the Beebe Medical Center where she was stabilized. She was then flown to the Christiana Hospital in Newark, where he was admitted. Her condition is unknown at this time. There were no other injuries.
This incident remains under investigation.
That's just terrible. I cannot understand why a person would want to keep a dog that has aggression issues when they know what can happen to innocent people.
ReplyDeleteSure hope this lady comes through her ordeal alright----at her age I'm sure she was tramatized more so thaan a younger person!
I love animals but would not ever allow one like that in my house---ever!!!
shame on her daughter for having a killer beast in her domicile. hopefully the old lady will make it. Daughter should feel guilty until the end of her days. Why would you keep a beast as a pet in your home that has to be confined in order to prevent it from killing another soul.
ReplyDeleteThe daughter knew the dog was dangerous, that is why it was locked up. Shame on her, she should have had it put down.Kinda lucky it was her mom, maybe she will not be sued. Shame Shame Shame!!!
ReplyDeleteCertainly a terrible thing to happen to anyone. Also sad is the fact that someone either bred or trained this dog to be the way he was. They are as much to blame as the dog.
ReplyDeleteBring your own gun next time... no problem.
ReplyDeleteBut Pit Bulls aren't the problem. Right? When is the last time you heard about a person being mauled by a Lab? I am sure that it has happened, but to me, I just can't trust a Pit Bull
ReplyDeletepits should all be put down
ReplyDeleteThe daughter should go to jail for this, there is no excuse.
ReplyDeleteThose pit bulls are the hounds of the devil! I agree with 10:01. Want a good dog? Get a lab or a beagle.
ReplyDelete10:01 and 7:57 i have a good dog. A pit bull. My dog has never mauled anyone. To put it down on the basis of what it COULD do is foolish. Should you be put down because you COULD snap and kill someone? There are plenty of actual humane torturers/murderers out there but people are just hell bent to keep them from the death penalty. But when it comes to an animal that is TRAINED and MADE to be that way the answer is to shoot it in the head? Get real people.
ReplyDelete7:57 my sister has a beagle and when that dog gets with my dog (which is a pit bull) the beagle is the one showing the aggression. NOT the pit. It is all in how a dog is raised.
ReplyDelete9:03 and 8:57...the bottom line is this woman had a pit that she obviously trained this way, or had no control over her animal. She had to keep the dog confined to begin with because she KNEW what the dog WOULD do, and knowing that who in the right mind would ever wan to own an animal like that....probably ONLY a drug dealer.
ReplyDeleteAs being a part of the family I will tell you he wasn't trained to be that way. My children were around him all the time. So instead of making judgements pray for her mom...

ReplyDelete9:03- the beagle must be a good judge of character.
ReplyDelete1029 no the beagle is actually an idiot lol. My dog does absolutely nothing to that dog. The beagle is just jealous. Go back to knitting lmao because its obvious you don't know what you're talking about.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah and 930 im not a drug dealer idiot. And i do not have to lock my pit up to keep it from harming people. My dog is a normal dog. It sees people and wants to be loved on. I have never even heard my dog growl.
ReplyDelete11:27- I have beagles and I don't knit. I guess my comment went over your head. I suppose there are dogs with issues of all breeds, but I see too many stories about pit bulls. Beagles generally like to chase squirrels and howl. God knows they can howl! LOL
