Couldn't they have found some bands that instead of getting paid would have taken their performance as a write off on taxes?
It appears to me that they were going for an age group over 40, which I think was a mistake. I went to far more concerts in my 20s than I do now. I have no idea what the kids are listening to these days, but that is the age group I would have tried to attract.
Oakridge Boys, Mamma Cass, Jefferson Starship??? Still too old. Gotta have newer, more current music to sell tickets. Around here all age groups love country music, from teenagers to the older folks. You could have a day of music like Kenny Chesney, Toby Keith, Blake Sheldon etc, throw in some local bands (we have some great talent here) and maybe even a comedian or 2. I would pay $85 for that and I think most people would.
I was excited when I first heard about this event until I saw the lineup. I'm in my 40's and this surely didn't appeal to my taste. Was hoping it was going to be more like the Tangier Sound Country Music Festival's they used to have in Crisfield. They were awesome!
Pick a top 10 artist/group from any chart. They all do charity work!
ReplyDeleteI hope heads roll at United Way for stealing from their agencies!
I would have tried to get Alabama, or The Oak Ridge Boys, and maybe the Judds, at $85.00 a ticket you would think they could have gotten good stuff.
