CFLs are now coming in a variety of shapes and sizes to fit smaller lamps.
You can also install a motion sensor that turns the light off when no one is around.

The hell with CFLs I bought enough
ReplyDeleteincandescent bulbs for 2 lifetimes I will have no problem getting top dollar for them not everybody is a "Greenie Weenie"
CFL's don't like cold weather. If it is a security light it won't do much good to have it on a motion sensor since it will take several minutes for it to warm up enough to give off enough light to actually be able to see
ReplyDeleteWho was the GENIUS that decided to phase the incandescent out anyway? Did you know that CFL bulbs contain mercury? Did you know that to dispose of them you must find a recycler OR wrap them in plastic bags and put them in the trash. Where does that "trash" go? To the landfill or out to sea - more plastic bags to sit around for a thousand years plus mercury in the soil or water. So much for environmentally friendly!
ReplyDeleteJust tell you visitor that's knocking on the door to wait 10 minutes for the stupid thing to warm up and still be dim.
ReplyDeleteYou guys aren't gonna like the facts... if you ever care to look them up. CFL's use dramatically less power (around 25% of the consumption of a incandescent)... lowering your electric bill. They last dramatically longer than incandescent bulbs... 8-10 times longer (that means you have to replace your "regular" bulb 8-10 times for the life of one CFL).
